He was born as Karl Anderson. When his mother remarried, he took his stepfather's last name "Kors" and changed his first name to Michael.

Kors starred in several TV ads as a child, including Lucky Charms.

When Kors was just five years old, he redesigned his mother's wedding gown.

He dropped out of NYC's Fashion Institute of Technology to showcase his designs.

The fashion designer's brand ran into financial trouble in the 1990s and declared bankruptcy before rebranding with a lower price point.

At 23 years old, young Kors convinced fashion editor Anna Wintour to view his eponymous collection, giving his career a major boost.

Despite his busy schedule, Kors still writes his collection's press releases himself.

Kors has been married to fellow designer Lance LePere (pictured) for almost 10 years. 

From 2004 to 2012, the designer served as a judge on "Project Runway" alongside supermodel Heidi Klum and former Marie Claire fashion director Nina Garcia. 

Although he reached billionaire status in 2014, Kors' current net worth is likely around $600 million.
