After a week of teasers on social media, Shawn Mendes finally released his new lead single. Before "In My Blood" dropped, the 19-year-old took to Instagram for a heartfelt post dedicated to his fans. "This song is the closest thing to my heart that I've ever written," said Mendes. Co-produced by Mendes and Teddy Geiger, the rock-acoustic song is deeply personal and is almost a cry for help as he sings the lyrics, "help me, it's like the walls are caving in, sometimes I feel like giving up." In a listening session with Mendes, he explained that he was heavily influenced by rock band Kings of Leon. We have a feeling his third album (date not released) will be his most mature and personal yet.
The Illuminate singer is performing "In My Blood" on The Late Late Show with James Corden next week, March 28.
