The stylist and editor helped guide the label into its next chapter following the death of founder Virgil Abloh.

Off-White and Ib Kamara are ending their creative partnership after four years, the brand announced on August 31.
Kamara first joined the house as art and image director in 2022, following the death of Off-White founder Virgil Abloh in November 2021. Already a trusted collaborator of Abloh’s, Kamara was tasked with carrying the designer’s influential legacy forward while establishing a new visual language for the brand. He formally stepped into the creative director position in 2024.
In a statement, Bluestar Alliance CEO Joey Gabbay thanked Kamara for the imagination and energy he brought to Off-White, crediting him with helping shape the label throughout a significant period of change. Bluestar Alliance acquired Off-White from LVMH in September 2024.
Kamara also reflected on his departure, calling his time at the house “an honour and a profound creative education.” He expressed gratitude to the teams behind its collections, runway shows, and broader creative projects while emphasizing that Off-White’s identity was never intended to rest on one person alone.
“I leave with enormous pride in all we have made,” Kamara said, adding that he remains excited about the house’s future.
During his tenure, Kamara expanded upon Off-White’s established relationship between streetwear, art, and luxury while introducing a perspective informed by his own work exploring identity, gender, and contemporary culture. One of the defining moments of his leadership arrived in September 2024, when he staged the brand’s first New York Fashion Week show at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The presentation brought Off-White’s global community to the city through a collection that referenced both American culture and Kamara’s African heritage.
Born in Sierra Leone and based in London, Kamara built his career as a stylist and editor before moving into design. In addition to leading Off-White, he has served as editor-in-chief of Dazed and worked with designers including Riccardo Tisci and Erdem Moralıoğlu.
His exit opens another period of transition for Off-White as the company continues to define its identity beyond its founder. Bluestar Alliance indicated that it would remain receptive to working with Kamara again, although the brand has not announced who will succeed him as creative director.
