From Uptown Girls to an unexpectedly specific Disney Channel throwback, the actress and stylist Ib Abdel Nasser have turned movie nostalgia into a string of memorable looks.&nbsp;

I thought I was the only person who remembered the pink dress from My Date with the President’s Daughter. Apparently, Lili Reinhart remembers it, too.
For a Los Angeles screening of The Love Hypothesis, Reinhart wore a Miu Miu pink velvet minidress with white trim, modeled after the one Elisabeth Harnois wears in the 1998 Disney Channel movie. It’s a wonderfully niche choice for the latest look in a press tour built around the clothes of romantic films. Reinhart has said that the dress was the first one that came to mind when she and stylist Ib Abdel Nasser began considering movie homages.&nbsp;

The occasion is fitting. Reinhart stars opposite Tom Bateman in The Love Hypothesis, the film adaptation of Ali Hazelwood’s bestselling novel, now streaming on Prime Video. She plays Olive, a Ph.D. candidate whose impulsive kiss with a professor turns into a fake relationship. Offscreen, Reinhart has been making the case for the rom-com heroine’s wardrobe, one reference at a time. 
She began with perhaps the most recognizable dress of the bunch: Andie Anderson’s yellow gown from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Reinhart and Abdel Nasser found a vintage Caché version of the look, down to its backless silhouette. For a stop in Germany, she turned to Ever After in a silver-beaded Rodarte gown inspired by Drew Barrymore’s Danielle. Then came a nod to 13 Going on 30: Reinhart wore the polka-dot Nanette Lepore coat seen on Jennifer Garner’s Jenna Rink, paired with a lace-trimmed slip. The timing was especially good, landing days after Reinhart’s own 30th birthday.&nbsp;

The references kept coming. A lilac Hervé Léger bandage dress and sunglasses brought Sandra Bullock’s makeover scene in Miss Congeniality to mind. A vintage Blumarine dress recalled Brittany Murphy’s Molly Gunn in Uptown Girls. Together, the looks span obvious favorites and details you might only recognize if you’ve watched the films enough times to memorize their wardrobes.&nbsp;

That’s what makes the Miu Miu dress such a satisfying final reference. Reinhart could have ended with another famous red-carpet gown. Instead, she reached for a Disney Channel movie that lives in the back of a very particular generation’s memory.
