While in London, the American actress took a fashion risk that ultimately paid off.

Yeah, we and the fashion world most certainly do. For those who have tried to avoid the shoe like the plague, try again at a later date.
As director Ridley Scott's highly-anticipated film The Dog Stars held its world premiere in London on Thursday, the styling choices were rather straightforward. Jacob Elordi wore a navy-blue pinstriped Bottega Veneta suit, Benedict Wong donned a black smoking-jacket-style blazer with beige pants, and Josh Brolin sported a brown-forward ensemble.
But the true commotion on the gray concrete carpet was made by none other than Oscar-nominated actress Margaret Qualley. Wearing a Chanel cap-sleeved little black dress featuring delicate circular fringing, the talent paired the garment with the controversial beach-made sandal heels in black.
Qualley is a longtime brand ambassador, so it made sense to wear the house for her latest premiere. However, the shoe choice is quite the switchup from the actress's recent footwear lineup. While filming Possession this summer, she was seen sprinting down a Jersey City sidewalk in Angéle ballerina shoes.
Not only do the heels without soles contribute to Qualley's recent experimentation with shoes, but they further the "shoeless shoes" overall purpose. For this unconventional piece of footwear, it was all about the look, not its functionality.&nbsp;
From the way the heel ties the ankle to exposing the majority of the foot, the shoe embodies the ever-evolving Chanel woman who does what she wants without being bothered by the ordinary. Alongside dirt, greenery, and dog actor turned co-star Rak Jasper, Qualley is continuing that legacy on her terms.
In a world full of closed-toed shoes, sharp dressing, and neutral tones, the actress really showed the world how paving your own lane is done in a romantic yet dainty way. Although the free-spirited heels aren't available for purchase currently, it only further signals a direction towards the "anti-shoe" fad.
