Ahead of Nicolas Ghesqui&egrave;re&rsquo;s Cruise 2027 presentation at The Frick Collection, the former American Ballet Theatre principal dancer speaks with L'OFFICIEL about her New York favorites, personal style, more.

Misty Copeland is not only one of ballet&rsquo;s most celebrated figures, but also a longtime fashion darling embraced by luxury houses like&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/louis-vuitton-cruise-2027-show-review-photos-see-all-the-looks-models-celebrities" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Louis Vuitton</a>. For the brand&rsquo;s Cruise 2027 show, designed by Nicolas Ghesqui&egrave;re and held at The Frick Collection, an influential crowd gathered on Manhattan&rsquo;s Upper East Side to see the latest collection surrounded by works from masters like Rembrandt and Titian. Among the notable attendees was Copeland, whose presence effortlessly bridged the worlds of dance, art, and high fashion.
The former principal dancer of American Ballet Theatre caught up with L'OFFICIEL ahead of the Louis Vuitton presentation to discuss her favorite New York City spots, how the iconic fashion house complements her personal style, and even which ballet score she would choose to soundtrack a Louis Vuitton runway show. L'OFFICIEL: Obviously, LV is coming to NYC for this season&rsquo;s cruise show. As someone who has lived and worked in the city for years, how would you define the sartorial energy of the city?
MISTY COPELAND:&nbsp;I&rsquo;ve lived in New York since I was 17, so the city has really shaped me as an artist, a woman, and honestly even my sense of style. There&rsquo;s an energy here that&rsquo;s hard to describe unless you&rsquo;ve lived in it. You can go from Lincoln Center to a tiny downtown music club in the same night. There&rsquo;s fashion, art, performance, concerts, dance, people expressing themselves so freely. I think New York style reflects that. It&rsquo;s layered, personal, creative, and grounded in individuality. People here wear things because it feels like them.
L'O: Equally, cruise/resort collections are all about travel. While you may not be going far for the LV show, are there any restaurants/shopping areas/parks/museums that would you recommend for first-time visitors?
MC: For first time visitors, I always tell people to really take in the arts and cultural spaces that make New York what it is. Lincoln Center obviously has been such a huge part of my life. The Met Museum is one of my favorite places to wander and reset creatively. I also love The Shed because it feels connected to where art and culture are evolving. And the Museum of Natural History still gives me that feeling of wonder every time I go and it&rsquo;s my sons favorite. Beyond that, I always encourage people to walk downtown, spend time in the West Village, SoHo, Central Park, and just absorb the rhythm of the city.

L'O: How has your style shifted since you first stepped into the spotlight to now?
MC: My style has definitely evolved alongside my confidence. When I was younger, I think I was trying harder to fit into ideas of elegance or what I thought fashion was supposed to look like. Now it feels much more personal and instinctive. Ballet has absolutely influenced the way I see style. I&rsquo;m drawn to lines, balance, shape, movement, and simplicity. I love the mix of something cool and effortless with something classic and refined.
L'O: How does Louis Vuitton fit into your style? Are there any pieces from the maison that are staples on your wardrobe?
MC: Louis&nbsp;Vuitton&nbsp;fits naturally into that for me because there&rsquo;s such strong craftsmanship behind everything. The pieces feel artistic but still wearable. I love fashion that has structure and beauty without feeling stiff. There&rsquo;s always something unexpected in the details.

L'O: &nbsp;How did you decide on your look for the show? What makes the perfect front-row outfit, in your opinion?
MC: I usually decide on a look based on how it makes me feel physically and emotionally. As a dancer, movement is always part of it for me. I want to feel strong, comfortable, elegant, and still like myself. I think the best front row looks are the ones where the person feels authentic in what they&rsquo;re wearing instead of disappearing into the clothes.
L'O: If you could choose any ballet score to set an LV show to, what would it be?
MC: I love Tchaikovsky and Mozart, especially piano concertos, so instinctively I go there first. But for a Louis Vuitton show, I also love the idea of something from Stravinsky, maybe Firebird, because it has so much tension and beauty and power all at once. It feels cinematic and emotional in a way that would be really incredible with fashion.&nbsp;
