Once Again, Rupaul Proves He Is Queen of Branding

The cultural icon has both a makeup line and a new book on the way.

If you've ever seen an episode of RuPaul's Drag Race, then you know that host RuPaul has never shied away from good, old-fashioned product placement. Whether promoting his any-given-music single, showcasing the ultra-fierce fragrance Glamazon, or implementing the ever-elusive RuPaul Chocolate Bar into mini-challenges, Mama Ru means business when it comes to the art of branding, and if you've ever wanted to do that same, now you can, thanks to his new book, GuRu by RuPaul (arriving October 23). 

“This book is a talisman, a guidebook for living," RuPaul, 57, told People.  “[It’s] a collection of meaningful phrases and quotes that have helped me navigate the chaos of modern life.”As a usual provider of sage advice (See: "Sissy That Walk") it's sure to inspire all of us to come out on top of any struggles we may be dealing with. So sign us up.

But of course, Ru didn't stop there, proving once again he always has a little something up his sequins dress sleeve. On Sunday, Mally Beauty announced on its Instagram that it will be partnering up with Ru on a makeup line (launch date TBD).

“Ru has always stayed true to who he is and unapologetically puts himself out there," Mally Beauty founder Mally Roncal told Pret-a-Reporter. "He exemplifies self-acceptance and has inspired and taught millions of people to love themselves." This won't be his first time dabbling in the cosmetics game having served as a spokesperson for MAC Cosmetics's Viva Glam campaign back in 1994.
