<p>The art fair returns to the city this week&mdash;see all of the highlights below.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Now that sunny days, near-stifling temperatures, and warm spring breezes have graced New York City at last, the city's residents are out and about at all hours of the day&mdash;popping by patio happy hour, going for long morning walks, and shopping under the sun. But as any art aficionado knows, May in the city also means Frieze New York is back again.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Returning for its 15th edition, Frieze New York 2026 promises all of the fine contemporary art, cultural installations, and robust adjacent programming that it has become famous for around the world. This year, the fair is taking place at the Shed from May 13 to 17.&nbsp;</p>
<p class="p1">This year, Frieze New York presents<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>65 galleries from 26 countries and a particularly strong representation from across the Americas, guided by two new committee members, Omayra Alvarado of Bogot&aacute;-based Instituto de Visi&oacute;n and F&aacute;tima Gonz&aacute;lez of Mexico City&rsquo;s Campeche. Gonz&aacute;lez&rsquo;s gallery makes its Frieze debut in this year&rsquo;s Focus section&mdash;dedicated to bold solo projects from galleries operating for 12 years or less&mdash;presenting an immersive installation by Mexican artist Abraham Gonz&aacute;lez Pacheco that combines concrete forms with large-scale graphite drawings to evoke ancestral memory and reimagine historical narratives. Curated by Lumi Tan, Focus also features S&atilde;o Paulo&rsquo;s Central gallery and fellow first-timers Buenos Aires galleries Isla Flotante and W-galer&iacute;a. Elsewhere in the fair, Brazilian artist Jarbas Lopes presents his &ldquo;Eu Sol&rdquo;(&ldquo;I Sun&rdquo;) drawings with Rio de Janeiro&rsquo;s A Gentil Carioca gallery, turning solar-panel patterns into a meditation on energy, nature, and connectivity.</p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">Soft Opening&nbsp;</h2>

<p>At Stand F02, London-based gallery Soft Opening presents brand-new work from artist Joanne Burke as part of the fair's Focus section. Through textured, delicately detailed metal sculptures and wall hangings alike, Burke explores femininity and humanity and their connection to the natural world.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">Champ Lacombe</h2>

<p>For Frieze New York 2026, Biarritz-based gallery Champ Lacombe is showing a range of works by the Spanish artist Miralda, a multidisciplinary creative who works between sculpture, illustration, film, photography, and large-scale installations.</p>
<p>Across his career, Miralda's works have touched on numerous themes, topics, and visual subjects, but he is perhaps most well-known for his early works, inspired by his time as a conscripted soldier, and his more recent food-related pieces.&nbsp;</p>

<p><span>This year, Ruinart returns to Frieze New York with a new guest artist for the 2026 edition of its collaborative series, <em>Conversations with Nature</em>. For this year's event, the label has invited Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata to create pieces inspired by nature. Famous for his wooden in-situ installations, the artist has created an array of pyramidal in-situ sculptures, sparked by his visit to Maison Ruinart.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span><span></span></p>
