There's one fundamental thing to look for, per hairstylist Jay Bowen, and a few good places to find it.

Curls famously frizz up in humid weather, and anyone with textured <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/hair">hair</a> knows how intensely your look can transform just minutes after stepping outside. This can be even more true when it&rsquo;s humid and hot out, but there are some good ways to combat this, and hairstylists know just what to pull from the toolkit.
Essentially, curls and coils can frizz up and lose definition in humid weather because, in short, water molecules in the air disrupt the natural bonds occurring in a curl, causing the hair to lose its pattern. To protect this from happening, according to hairstylist and Oway ambassador Jay Bowen, one thing is most important.
"You need something that's going to create a protective barrier against the water, essentially. You want something that's not going to be too heavy on your scalp and that's not going to weigh you down and cause irritation." he tells L'OFFICIEL. One of his go-to products is Oway's <a href="https://owayusa.com/products/flux-potion-240ml?variant=44243502104764">Flux Potion</a>, a light gel from the Italy-based brand that uses rice water and chia seeds as its star film forming ingredient.
The best product for achieving this with curly and coily hair is going to be something that has some level of hold, most likely in the form of a gel. Moisture-containing formulas alone won't do the trick unless they also form that key barrier. In other words, per Bowen, there's no need to reach for a very intense hold (unless that's what you already use) which may lead to an unnecessarily crunchy texture. Look out for form-filming ingredients like aloe vera, flaxseed, nettle, and marshmallow.
