This winter, &ldquo;Sugar Plum Fairy makeup&rdquo; has become the buzzy aesthetic du jour.&nbsp;
To be fair, the internet has done a lot of good. It&rsquo;s made inspiration for everything from home d&eacute;cor and travel destinations to makeup routines and skincare hacks instantly accessible&mdash;democratizing what once felt reserved for traditional tastemakers. But one of the less charming side effects is that absolutely everything now requires an oddly specific name. Colors, textures, and vibes&mdash;things that once existed perfectly well on their own&mdash;are rebranded into hyper-niche &ldquo;aesthetics,&rdquo; often less out of necessity than marketability.&nbsp;

Of course, labeling can be useful when you&rsquo;re trying to track down a specific look. Still, online discourse has started to wonder whether we&rsquo;ve crossed the line from helpful shorthand into full-blown make-believe. At a certain point, it feels like we&rsquo;re not discovering new ideas so much as renaming old ones with better branding.&nbsp;
No longer is something just &ldquo;sky blue&rdquo;; it&rsquo;s &ldquo;blueberry milk. &ldquo;Bronzy makeup&rdquo; becomes &ldquo;latte makeup.&rdquo; Minimalism morphs into &ldquo;vanilla girl,&rdquo; &ldquo;clean girl,&rdquo; or &ldquo;quiet luxury,&rdquo; because in the internet economy, nothing is complete until it&rsquo;s been aesthetic-ified, named, and neatly packaged for consumption.&nbsp;

Then there&rsquo;s the uncomfortable question: has the internet&rsquo;s obsession with aesthetics slowly chipped away at our ability to develop a personal sense of style on our own? At what point does &ldquo;taking inspiration&rdquo; or paying &ldquo;homage&rdquo; tip into blind imitation?&nbsp;

True to Bieber&rsquo;s signature, her take skewed soft and natural: subtle glitter on the eyes and cheeks, finished with a cool-toned baby pink blush and a matching shimmery gloss from her Rhode line&mdash;the now <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/beauty/rhode-lip-tint-jelly-bean-salty-tan-lip-balm-strawberry-glaze-hailey-bieber">best-selling Jelly Bean Peptide Lip Tint</a>.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, others have taken the concept further, dialing up the saturation and leaning harder into glittery pigments. All things considered, the name doesn&rsquo;t feel entirely made up so much as descriptive&mdash;a shorthand for a fairy-coded fantasy that&rsquo;s frosty, dreamy, and just a little sparkly. In other words, perfectly suited to the icy winter we&rsquo;re currently in.
