Following “Golden” becoming the first K-pop song to win a Grammy, Rei Ami turns her attention to New York Fashion Week—and a label already in her rotation.

A Grammy in February. The Oscars and BAFTAs soon after. By <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/new-york-fashion-week-schedule-spring-summer-2027-cfda-calendar">New York Fashion Week</a>, Rei Ami’s 2026 schedule has one more stop: <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion-week/altuzarra-spring-summer-2027-nyfw-show-runway-photos-review">Altuzarra Spring/Summer 2027</a>. And the week is getting even busier—her first solo release since <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/kpop-demon-hunters-oscars-speech-awards-won-2026-sequel-release-date-plot-ejae-audrey-nuna-rei-ami-style-red-carpet-songs">KPop Demon Hunters</a>, “2LOUD,” arrives Friday.
Altuzarra already has a place in Rei Ami’s wardrobe. In April, she attended the Fashion Trust U.S. Awards in a painterly, body-mapped print from the house’s <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion-week/altuzarra-fall-winter-2026-runway-images">Fall/Winter 2026</a> collection. For Rei Ami, part of the fun is that the label can exist alongside the more provocative pieces she gravitates toward. “I love that I can rock a classy, elegant brand like Altuzarra but also rock a sexy, edgy brand like Guvanch,” she tells L’OFFICIEL.
Why choose just one? Since breaking through in 2020, the Korean-American singer and rapper has moved between alt-pop and rap while balancing her own releases with voice work. Rei Ami has a name for that constant back-and-forth: “Duality is in my DNA.”
Ahead of Altuzarra Spring/Summer 2027, L’OFFICIEL caught up with Rei Ami as she got ready for the show to talk personal style, her history with the house, the year that took “Golden” from the recording studio to the Grammys stage, and stepping back into the spotlight with “2LOUD.” Keep reading for the full conversation.

L'OFFICIEL: When you’re getting dressed, are you dressing as Rei Ami or Sarah? Is there a difference?
REI AMI: I don’t think there’s a huge difference when I’m getting dressed. I think my style as Rei is just an exaggerated, more extreme version of my personal style as Sarah. I love showing skin, wearing loud patterns, and rocking vibrant colors, so whether I’m on stage or walking my pups on my day off, you can expect to see me rocking some hot pink booty shorts with some cheetah print heels.
L'O: What’s the first thing you think about when putting together a look for a night like tonight whether it’s comfortable shoes, a bag, or something else?
RA: Comfort and functionality is a big thing for me. I have a lot of energy and tend to move around a lot so having a look that’s comfortable and that allows me to move freely is one of my top priorities when it comes to putting together a look.

L'O: After being the voice behind “Golden,” what has it been like stepping into the spotlight yourself with “2LOUD?”
RA: To be honest, it’s been a very weird transition for me. Being thrust into that level of visibility is not normal for any human being to experience. Being perceived by millions of strangers who didn’t truly know me or my story was terrifying. I had to stop reading the comments, which made me feel bad because it was affecting how I engaged with my fans…which really pissed me off because I don’t play about my fans. My reibies deserve so much from me because they fuel my spirit, so yeah, I was really upset. But then I was like “wait…why am I letting these miserable losers get to me?!” Because seriously, why would I ever let someone with a life I would never want tell ME who the fuck I am!?! So stepping into this new era feels empowering and necessary. Because if you think I’ve been too loud, get ready for me to get louder. Boo hoo...Go cry about it.&nbsp;
L'O: How has growing up between Korean and American culture influenced your personal style?
RA: My Korean-American heritage plays a huge role in my personal style. Growing up, I felt like I never fit into either the Korean or American beauty standards. My skin was too tan, my lips were too big, my nose bridge wasn’t high enough by Korean standards… Funny story, when I visited Korea in high school, a relative actually offered to take me to a surgeon for a rhinoplasty consultation. I had no idea my nose was “ugly” until that very moment. But then in the States, my eyes were too small, and my skin wasn’t tan enough. So yeah, I was deeply insecure about my self-image. I found myself making style choices that either fit the Korean or American standard. It never once occurred to me that maybe I should just wear whatever the fuck I want. It wasn’t until in my adult years that I realized I’m not just Korean or American. I am both. And now, when I think about those times, I am filled with such intense rage. Because why did it have to take me so long to realize this? The point of fashion is to express yourself, and for such a long time, I suppressed the best parts of myself just to feel accepted.

L'O: Your music mixes softer and edgier sides of yourself. Do you approach fashion the same way?
RA: Absolutely. I am and have always been obsessed with duality and how contrasting things can often come together to create harmony. Whether it's pairing spikes and ribbons…leather and tulle… to me, duality represents the beauty of life and that two drastically different things can co-exist. Growing up, I felt a lot of pressure to choose one side of myself, and I think that’s why it took me a while to find my personal style. I felt the need to stick with one version of myself, so I didn’t allow myself to play or experiment with different styles. But not anymore!!! I’m letting it all out and expressing myself in the loudest way.
L'O: Altuzarra can be more understated, while your music is anything but. Do you like playing with that contrast?
RA: I’m a Gemini stellium. Duality and contrast is in my DNA. I’m not a neutral person and never will be. I also like to consider myself a chameleon because of my ability to adapt and acclimate to whatever situation I’m in. I love that I can rock a classy, elegant brand like Altuzarra but also rock a sexy, edgy brand like Guvanch.
L'O: What’s one part of getting ready that you never rush?
RA: I don’t like being rushed, so getting ready is a very peaceful, gradual process for me. I take my time with hair, makeup, getting dressed, choosing accessories, etc. Do not rush me.

L'O: Do you have a getting-ready ritual that puts you in the right mood?
RA: Music!! I love getting ready with a solid playlist playing in the background. Singing and dancing with my glam team always puts me in the best mood.
L'O: What’s the final thing you do before you walk out the door?
RA: I thank my glam team!! Because I literally could not do any of this without them. I don’t think people realize just how hard it is to be a stylist, hair or makeup artist. They’re on their feet for most of the time, running around town grabbing things for their clients— often with very short notice. They don’t get enough credit, if any at all…. They work their asses off to make someone else look beautiful, so it is imperative that we, as clients, express our appreciation and gratitude for their hard work.
