Made possible by Chanel, these iconic New York City dance ensembles return to Lincoln Center for a sixth year.

In a time when things can move quickly, it never hurts to return to basics: supporting the arts. As the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts continues to celebrate the practice of dance all summer long, the BAAND Together Dance Festival returns to the storied site for its sixth installment.From July 28 through August 1, five of New York City's well-known dance companies — Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, Ballet Hispánico New York, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and New York City Ballet — will come together and perform on the same stage. Taking place at the David H. Koch Theater, the celebration is a part of Lincoln Center's third annual Summer for the City festivity."Dance and the arts are a haven for our collective soul, reminding us of our shared humanity," BAAND Artistic Directors from each dance company said in the press release.&nbsp;After what seemed like a never-ending pandemic in the early 2020s, BAAND Together was formed in 2021 to celebrate the return of the performing arts in person. Instead of focusing on a specific dance form, the festival united dancers, fans, and everyone in between in this new form of collaboration.Since its inception, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/chanel-tribeca-film-festival-artists-dinner-teyana-taylor-inde-navarrette-keke-palmer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chanel</a> has been a strong supporter of the Festival and continues to strengthen its long-standing commitment to the world of dance. But this century-long history shouldn't be pushed aside for the house, especially since the correlation between fashion and dance has distinguished the brand for decades.

From dance lessons with greats such as Caryathis and Isadora Duncan to becoming close friends with Serge Diaghilev while creating costumes for his Ballets Russes shows, Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel has held the act as a form of freedom, beauty, and language. Once her creations made their way to Le Train bleu in 1924, Chanel would eventually make costumes for Apollon Musagète and Bacchanale, furthering her relationship with the world of dance.When Karl Lagerfeld joined the house as creative director, he was committed to continuing Chanel's collaboration with the dance world. Elena Glurjidze's outfit for the 2009 The Dying Swan, costumes for B/olero's pas de deux at the Opening Gala of the 2018-2019 dance season, and being the official partner of the Nijinsky Awards Ceremony in Monaco since 2000 were initiatives led by Lagerfeld. Under Virginie Viard, performances like Variations, Grand Pas Classique, and the Opéra National de Paris Ballet's tribute to Patrick Dupound saw Chanel creations ranging from dreamy costumes to elegant decor.Last January, the house furthered its relationship with dance by becoming the patron of the Paris Opera Ballet. From the early 20th century to the present, the ways Chanel has helped and influenced the art form have transcended on a global scale through festivals and institutions. By supporting BAAND Together, the house continues to assist dance and its centuries-long impact on society.Not only are all tickets under the Choose-What-You-Pay system, which makes world-altering art more accessible, but allow attendees to dive deep into the arts alongside artistic directors of each company. Emotion-forward performances Tuesday-Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m., a free-for-all panel on Tuesday, July 28 at 9 p.m. in the David Rubenstein Atrium, and dance workshops avaliable every afternoon for all ages and abilities will be essential to the festival."BAAND was created to foster resilience, strengthen community, and demonstrate the power of the arts to inspire change," said BAAND Artistic Directors.
