Managed by Christie's Auction House, "Handbags Online: The New York Edit" sold iconic handbags made for the ultimate fashion lover.

After two weeks of bidding, Christie's Auction House's "Handbags Online: The New York Edit" sold hundreds of bags, raised $3,256,407, and even broke a record. From 97% of auctioned items selling by lot to low estimates making up 123% of purchases, the auction was easily a success thanks to its colorful offerings.<s></s>
From May 28 to June 11, an online auction was held that featured a special exhibition at Christie's New York. Hermés, Chanel, Dior, and Louis Vuitton were some brands that had their creations featured in the sale.
Notably, a Fendi Red, White, and Black Embellished Canvas Floral Print Baguette with Silver Hardware from 2000 once belonged to actress Elizabeth Taylor. Previously featured in Christie's "The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor," the once low-estimate bag of $3,000 sold for seven times its amount at $21,590.&nbsp;
Not only did the handbag find a new home, but it set a world record of being the most expensive Fendi Baguette sold at auction. The iconic bag was one of many hot commodities of the auction, but Hermés held major star power throughout the 14-day endeavor.
Across the board, the top lot of the auction was a one-of-a-kind Hermés White Himalaya Niloticus Crocodile Birkin 30 with Palladium Hardware from 2016 that sold for $120,650. A limited-edition Chocolate Evergrain Leather Anate Sellier Birkin 35 with Gold Hardware followed at $76,200.
Another record was broken when a rare 2007 Black Calf Box Leather &amp; Toile Kelly Lakis 28 with Palladium Hardware sold for $57,150, a first for the model. Other Hermés pieces that not only did well, but even surpassed their estimates included a 2026 Metallic Doré Chamkilight Chèvre Leather Mini Kelly 20 II with Permabrass Hardware at $60,960 and a Jaune Citron Boreal Satine Ostrick Birkin 25 with Palladium Hardware from 2022 being sold for $44,450.
To wrap up, bidders held a strong desire for Karl Lagerfeld-era Chanel pieces, which did well at the auction. An exceptional Feminist Protest Graffiti Canvas Briefcase with Gunmetal Hardware from the Spring/Summer 2015 runway was projected to sell at $8,000, but was won at $30,480. From the same collection, a Feminist Protest Graffiti Canvas Messenger Bag with Distressed Silver Hardware was acquired for $25,400.
Despite the fact that the auction is over, Christie's launched a new auction featuring items from Dior, Hermés, Chanel, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton. Titled "Handbags Online: The Paris Edit," the handbags are perfect for adding a Parisian touch to your closet.
