<p>From FKA twigs to Rosalía, fashion’s coolest dressers are stepping out in Miista’s unmistakably offbeat footwear.</p>

<p>There is a particular kind of boot that has taken over the wardrobes of fashion’s coolest women: sleek, edgy, and instantly capable of making even the simplest outfit feel considered. Chances are, it’s Miista.</p>
<p>The London-born label has quietly graduated from cult footwear favorite to bona fide It girl uniform, finding fans in FKA twigs, Rosalía, and more. Its shoes are difficult to mistake for anything else. Think elongated lace-up boots, exaggerated square toes, unexpected proportions, exposed seams, and silhouettes that sit somewhere between romantic and utilitarian.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Among its most recognizable styles is the Imogen, a boxing-inspired lace-up boot that extends above the ankle and features a slim, sneaker-like rubber sole. According to the brand, the style has been worn by FKA twigs, Ravyn Lenae, Sudan Archives, Olivia Cooke and Little Simz—a lineup that essentially doubles as a mood board for the Miista woman. <p>But Miista’s sudden ubiquity is hardly the result of an overnight success story. Founder and creative director Laura Villasenin began developing the label in East London in 2010, after moving to the city from Galicia, Spain, and studying footwear design. Its first collection arrived the following year. From the beginning, the idea was to combine the experimental energy of London with traditional European craftsmanship, with shoes produced by artisans in Spain and Portugal.&nbsp;</p>
<p>“When I founded Miista in 2011, I wanted to create a brand that made thoughtful design and craft feel more accessible,” Villasenin tells <em>L’OFFICIEL</em>. “I was fascinated by how much you could say through footwear construction alone—through shape, proportion, texture and the tension between structure and softness.”</p>
<p>Miista has since grown beyond shoes, launching its first ready-to-wear collection in 2021 and developing clothing and accessories with the same emphasis on experimentation. The expansion also pushed the independent company to take greater control of how its pieces are made. Miista established its own clothing factory in Galicia and continues to work with longtime footwear partners in Spain and Portugal, keeping much of its supply chain within Europe.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Over the years, as we’ve evolved from just a shoe brand into a broader creative and craft-driven platform, and designing our first ready-to-wear collection in 2021, we were determined to grow in a way that allowed us to honour our core values,” Villasenin says. “For me, the recent popularity of our boots is not about chasing a trend; it is a sign that more people are looking for pieces with character, longevity and a real connection to the people who make them.”</p>
<p>It helps that “character” is something Miista has in abundance. While fashion’s obsession with minimalist wardrobe staples isn’t going anywhere, there has been a noticeable appetite for accessories that do more of the talking.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Even its celebrity following feels fitting. Charli XCX wore the label’s Finola boots during her&nbsp;<em data-start="270" data-end="276">Brat</em> era, while Madonna has stepped out in Miista’s Shana boots. But the brand has also found a natural place onstage: FKA twigs has performed in its footwear, while Miista adapted its signature Imogen boot specifically for the demands of Rosalía’s <em data-start="521" data-end="526">LUX</em> tour, where the style is worn by her dancers throughout the show.</p>

<p>For Villasenin, however, the recognizable boots are less about creating the next viral shoe than establishing an identity.</p>
<p>“I see them as a visual manifestation of our values: made through a short supply chain by artisans in Europe, with an emphasis on craft, experimentation and individuality,” she says. “They have been designed to be worn in multiple ways, allowing the wearer to inhabit different versions of themselves and move fluidly between characters rather than being defined by a single one.”</p>
