During Paris Fashion Week, the iconic French maison introduced the world to its fresh, sophisticated new residence.

Almost a century ago, in 1937, then up-and-coming Parisian designer Roger Vivier opened his very first atelier in Paris, right on Rue Royale. Somewhere between fitting Queen Elizabeth II for her coronation and inventing the stiletto heel as we know it today, the Roger Vivier name&mdash;both the man and the maison behind him&mdash;became synonymous with excellence and creative innovation.
Whether you know the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/roger-vivier-piece-unique-fall-winter-2025-2026" target="_blank" rel="noopener">label</a> by name or not&mdash;though chances are, you do&mdash;any fashion enthusiast worth their salt is familiar with the iconic silhouettes the maison has created over the years. Between the Boule Heel, the Choc Heel, and the Virgule Heel, the Roger Vivier archives are positively teeming with fashion history. Though to be sure, no shoe so well defines the identity and heritage of the label like the Belle Vivier.&nbsp;

Vast and diverse as the maison's archives may be, it's the Belle Vivier shoe&mdash;with its iconic square buckle and sculptural heel&mdash;that continues to enrapture, even decades after its very first introduction back in 1965, when <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/catherine-deneuve-auction-christies-2018" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Catherine Deneuve</a> embodied the sophistication, grace, and style of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Roger Vivier woman.&nbsp;
Now, 60 years later, Roger Vivier is celebrating and expanding on the long history, legacy, and impact of the style in its Spring/Summer 2026 collection, titled Belle Vivier 60. Though a range of buzzy figures in fashion and culture&mdash;think Catherine Deneuve, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/naomi-campbell-jewel-covered-versace-mini-dress-aids-benefit-1991" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Naomi Campbell</a>, Sarah Paulson, Camille Charriere, and Yeji, among others&mdash;joined the label for the new line's launch, it wasn't just new iterations on the legendary shoe that Roger Vivier exhibited on Oct. 2. Guests also bore witness to the very first unveiling of Maison Vivier&mdash;the brand's stunning new Parisian headquarters at 98 Rue de l&rsquo;Universit&eacute;.&nbsp;
Housed inside the historic h&ocirc;tel particulier, originally built by royal architect Jacques Gilet de la Fontaine in 1729, the new Maison Vivier features centuries of architectural excellence intertwined with contemporary artistry. In sumptuous wood, solid stone, and luxurious gilding, the identity of the maison comes alive. With two salons, an archive, atelier spaces, and outdoor gardens, the Parisian elegance and visionary creativity at the core of Roger Vivier are affirmed, joining heritage with innovation in a space at once historic and brand new.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Ahead of Maison Vivier's grand opening, L'OFFICIEL caught up with Gherardo Felloni, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/ines-de-la-fressange-and-gherardo-felloni-on-the-legacy-of-roger-vivier" target="_blank" rel="noopener">creative director</a> of Roger Vivier, who detailed the importance of ornamentation, discussed creative innovation, and revealed his favorite part of the new space.

L'OFFICIEL: In an era where so many labels are leaning into minimalism, why has it remained important for Roger Vivier to champion an expressive, colorful, and sophisticated aesthetic?
Gherardo Felloni:&nbsp;At Roger Vivier, expression is part of our DNA. Monsieur Vivier believed that decoration, when done with intelligence and balance, could express a form of joy and freedom. I see color, ornament, and detail as tools of emotion. They bring character and life to objects. What matters to me is not extravagance, but intention, how beauty can tell a story and evoke emotion.
Vivier&rsquo;s aesthetic is sophisticated, yes, but it&rsquo;s also full of humor and lightness. That&rsquo;s what keeps it modern. The colorful palette, the signature buckle, the sculptural heels, these are not decorative excesses, but the visual vocabulary through which the Maison communicates its identity and allows each woman to assert herself. In today&rsquo;s landscape, Vivier&rsquo;s expressive aesthetic becomes a vivid signal: this is a woman who is not invisible, who embraces presence, surprise, and style.

L'O: What is it about the Belle Vivier shoe in particular that speaks to the identity of the Roger Vivier woman?
GF:&nbsp;The Belle Vivier is a true icon, not only a shoe, but a language. Its shape, its buckle, its balance between geometry and femininity,&nbsp; everything about it feels timeless yet completely contemporary.
What makes it special is its duality: it&rsquo;s classic and daring at the same time. The woman who wears it doesn&rsquo;t follow trends; she defines her own rhythm. She&rsquo;s confident, imaginative, and not afraid to stand out quietly. The Belle Vivier captures that sense of controlled boldness,&nbsp; of owning the room with intentional lightness.

L'O: How does Roger Vivier, as a brand and creative entity, balance innovation for a contemporary audience with the importance of heritage/tradition? Where is this best reflected in the new collection, or in Maison Vivier?
GF:&nbsp;Heritage is a living source of inspiration. The archives are full of ideas that feel incredibly modern because Monsieur Vivier was a visionary. By revisiting those codes, the Virgule heel, the Belle Vivier, and the jewel details, I translate them for today&rsquo;s lifestyles. Innovation doesn&rsquo;t mean breaking with the past; it means giving it new life, a new context.
This philosophy is also what Maison Vivier represents: a place where archives, creativity, and craft exist together. It&rsquo;s about keeping the conversation between past and present alive.

L'O: What is it about the Maison Vivier that differentiates it from past headquarters?
GF:&nbsp;Maison Vivier is a cultural declaration, a narrative space. It&rsquo;s a place where the creative studio, the archives, and the salons coexist under one roof, in a Parisian h&ocirc;tel particulier. It represents our belief that a brand must speak not only with products, but also with ideas, values, and experiences. It&rsquo;s where history becomes a living presence, where creation is constantly in dialogue with heritage.
It&rsquo;s a true home for the spirit of Roger Vivier. Moreover, the Maison is purpose-built to host cultural dialogue: archival visits, salons, immersive exhibitions, and student visits. It is a residence of ideas.

L'O: Is there a particularly special part of the newly opened Maison Vivier that you&rsquo;re eager for visitors to see?
GF:&nbsp;The Salle de l'Archive. It&rsquo;s a treasure of imagination, hundreds of drawings, shoes, and documents from the 1950s onwards. When you hold one of Monsieur Vivier&rsquo;s sketches, you understand his mind: playful, visionary, and precise. To have the archives side by side with the atelier and the studio means that his spirit continues to guide us every day.
Maison Vivier will also welcome students and friends of the Maison, because we believe heritage should be shared. It&rsquo;s a way to inspire future generations and to show that true creativity always begins with curiosity.
