Dakota Johnson expresses discontent with how movies are being made and her recent project, Madame Web, is no exception.

In a recent interview with Bustle, cover star Dakota Johnson discusses her reaction to Madame Web's critical reviews. In the film's two-week press tour, Johnson has made headlines for her unbiased and honest remarks about her latest project with Sony Pictures. In the interview, the actress humorously predicts how her remarks regarding Madame Web's negative reviews will be received.

“Like, ‘Dakota Johnson Breaks Her Silence On Madame Web’s F*cking Box Office Failure,’” Johnson said. “It’s like, ‘No, I’m not breaking any silence. I’m just talking.’”

She later goes on to say that she's scared of how decisions in the film industry are currently being made by committees rather than creatives, stating that the filmmakers rightfully deserve to be the creative decision-makers.

"You cannot make art based on numbers and algorithms," said Johnson. "My feeling has been for a long time that audiences are extremely smart, and executives have started to believe that they’re not."

In Johnson's cover story interview with LOFFICIEL USA, she said that she doesn’t discriminate against movie genres and that Madame Web's main character, Cassandra Webb, was interesting and powerful. Retrospectively, Johnson tells Bustle that while she has never done anything like Madame Web before, she "probably will never do anything like it again" and that she doesn’t "make sense in that world."

Johnson goes on to say that oftentimes when making a movie, the concept will start as one thing and end up as another. Her desire to have more creative control over projects prompted her to start a production company called TeaTime. In the same cover story for LOFFICIEL USA, she revealed that she is in the midst of making a film about a woman handling grief.
