The actress is stepping behind the mic as &ldquo;Lace Manhattan&rdquo; to score her upcoming film, Honey Don&rsquo;t!

She acts, she dances, and now she sings. What can&rsquo;t Margaret Qualley do?
<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/actress-margaret-qualley-facts-andie-macdowell-daughter">Margaret Qualley</a> is making her official debut as a songwriter and musician under the name "Lace Manhattan," a new musical persona she&rsquo;s created for Honey Don&rsquo;t!, her upcoming feature film with director Ethan Coen.
The film, a 1970s-set detective comedy starring Qualley as the stylish, sharp-tongued private investigator Honey O&rsquo;Donahue, marks a turning point in the actor&rsquo;s evolution, not just as an on-screen performer, but also as a songwriter and voice behind the film&rsquo;s music. Multiple original songs written and performed by Qualley will appear on the Honey Don&rsquo;t! soundtrack, with the first single, titled &ldquo;Odd Wadd,&rdquo; set to release July 24, one month ahead of the film&rsquo;s premiere.

Qualley has been teasing the project under the alias @lace.manhattan on Instagram, where she has posted visuals and cryptic single artwork. Her posts appear separate from her public acting career and offer a curated, moody aesthetic that references 1960s and &rsquo;70s French pop, pulp noir cinema, and lo-fi singer-songwriter visuals. Her first caption simply: &ldquo;Original songs for Honey Don&rsquo;t! written and performed by Lace Manhattan. Out soon.&rdquo;
The music is also a family collaboration. Qualley reportedly co-wrote the songs with her husband, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/jack-antonoff-dating-history-margaret-qualley-lena-dunham-lorde">Jack Antonoff</a>, the Grammy-winning producer behind albums for Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, and Lorde. While Antonoff&rsquo;s involvement has not been publicly confirmed via a press release, both industry sources and a recent Instagram tag suggest he produced the soundtrack.
This project also marks Ethan Coen&rsquo;s second solo feature following his departure from working alongside his brother Joel. Honey Don&rsquo;t! premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival to strong reviews and is distributed by Focus Features. Alongside Qualley, the film stars Aubrey Plaza, Chris Evans, and Beanie Feldstein.&nbsp;

Honey Don&rsquo;t! is set for release in U.S. theaters on August 22, 2025, with the full soundtrack by Lace Manhattan to be released digitally the same day. A limited-run vinyl pressing from Focus Music is scheduled for fall.
Whether Lace Manhattan is a one-off experiment or the start of a new era for Qualley remains a mystery,, however, her move as singer and performer signals a broader shift in how actors shape the creative tone of the projects they lead.&nbsp;
