The cultural institution is recognizing the legendary filmmaker's lifetime of innovative, visionary creativity.&nbsp;

It's not just Van Gogh's "Starry Night" and Dal&iacute;'s Persistence of Memory" that art aficionados line up outside of the New York-based museum to see&mdash;now, Sofia Coppola's works have temporarily joined the museum's archives.&nbsp;
In 2004, the Museum of Modern Art's Department of Film included Sofia Coppola, fresh off the success of&nbsp;Lost in Translation the year prior, in its Work In Progress series, which recognizes the work of young, fresh, and innovative filmmakers.&nbsp;
21 years and seven movies later, Coppola is being honored at the MoMA's 2025 Film Benefit, sponsored by Chanel, a maison with a deep, longstanding connection to film&mdash;and Coppola herself.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&ldquo;Developing long-term relationships with artists is one of the profound privileges and responsibilities for an institution like MoMA. Sofia Coppola has been a part of the Museum's artist family since her emergence as an acclaimed director over 25 years ago,&rdquo; said Rajendra Roy, MoMA&rsquo;s Celeste Bartos Chief Curator of Film, in a release. &ldquo;We celebrated her in 2004 as a part of our Work in Progress series, and we are thrilled to welcome her back now as a field-leading icon.&rdquo;
Previous MoMA Film Benefit honorees include Samuel L. Jackson, Guillermo del Toro, Pen&eacute;lope Cruz, George Clooney, Laura Dern, Martin Scorsese, Julianne Moore, Tom Hanks, Cate Blanchett, Alfonso Cuar&oacute;n, Tilda Swinton, Quentin Tarantino, Pedro Almod&oacute;var, Kathryn Bigelow, Tim Burton, and Baz Luhrmann.
In addition to the benefit, the museum will also showcase Sofia Coppola: A Tribute from Oct. 30 through Nov. 16. The presentations are slated to include the filmmaker&rsquo;s nine feature-length movies, plus the short film Lick the Star (1998). Interested in catching a showtime?&nbsp;
The institution's film department boasts one of the most extensive international film collections in the world, with over 30,000 films and 1.5 million still shots. The maintenance, growth, and study of the collection is facilitated by the benefit and sponsors, who aid in preserving one of the most integral elements of human culture for future generations.&nbsp;
