The goth group has released "Grind Your Bones," yet another single from their forthcoming album. 

Actually Huizenga is one of L.A.&rsquo;s unsung heroes, an ultra-powerful presence with a provocateur attitude that makes for some rad and raunchy films and music. Huizenga&rsquo;s new band is called Patriarchy, and it&rsquo;s a goth project in the best way possible&mdash;the band has a death metal logo, blood always seems to be flung around, and the lyrics are not for the faint of heart. Her video for &ldquo;Grind Your Bones&rdquo; marks the third single off Asking for It, the band&rsquo;s debut album, which is set for release later this year. &ldquo;Grind Your Bones&rdquo; is actually more of a short film, and it&rsquo;s from another universe, one where demons, hunchbacks and witches seduce young rocker boys.

The release of &ldquo;Grind Your Bones&rdquo; shares a date with &ldquo;the ancient Roman festival of Floralia, which ends with a licentious bang on the same day&hellip; goats, wild hares, and scattered beans released into the Circus Maximus to ensure fertility,&rdquo; says Huizenga.

After the album is released, Huizenga and the band cut across the U.S. for the &ldquo;Patriarchy Uncut&rdquo; tour, and they&rsquo;ll play a handful of European &ldquo;Pre-Cum&rdquo; dates through May and June. European tour dates are detailed below the interview.

I sat down with Huizenga and one of her bandmates Joseph Garrison to chat about the making of the video.

Grind Your Bones

Maxwell Williams: What can you tell me about the shooting of this video?

Actually Huizenga: I wanted to audition artists to have for the live band, because I wanted to have talented but good-looking musicians in the touring band, because why not? I put weird posters in the Guitar Center just as a joke, I made videos of that for social media. And then I found three. They came to this &mdash; I made this whole set, and they didn&#39;t know what they were in for. They thought they were just doing an audition.

Joseph Garrison: I honestly knew nothing about it. My friend Tabi hit me up. She was like, &#39;My friend Actually is looking for someone who kinda looks like you for this video,&#39; I&#39;m like, &#39;Yeah sure,&#39; because I&#39;d modeled in New York and shit. So I show up, and the first thing I see is a demon in a bathroom.

AH: No, first the hunchback came up!

JG: Sorry, the first thing I saw was someone dressed like a hunchback, running down a hill to this house in Malibu. So in the video you&#39;ll see a lot of our reactions and shit, and 80 percent of that&#39;s real. Obviously we know we&#39;re in a music video and we&#39;re being filmed and stuff, but we had no idea what to expect.

AH: There was supposed to be an audition where we&#39;d see how they&#39;d handle it, see who the winner would be.

MW: So all the reactions are real? That&#39;s really great.

AH: It was a lot of work, and that&#39;s why I ended up almost dying at the end, because I directed it and produced it and did all that, but I&#39;m also supposed to be in it. I had no help to set up the sets, because it was way in Malibu, and no one&#39;s going to come all the way out there. Everything had to be ready before they got there. I think I only had, like, celery. And then I started drinking, and...

JG: Yeah, you only ate some carrots.

AH: And I was meant to be burned at a stake. This weird old man had a fetish and he tied me too well. And everyone&#39;s like, &#39;She&#39;s cold, give her more alcohol!&#39; And um, I blacked out. But I sang, because I saw the footage obviously. And when I was directing these guys, I was like &lsquo;Urgh blah ugh.&#39; How did no one notice I was slurring. Luckily it was towards the end, but it looked good for the part.

MW: Did you get sick?

AH: Oh, I was. They were going to call the ambulance.

JG: But not only because she was drinking, but it was in early March or mid-March in Malibu in the middle of the night, after we had just been at the beach with like no clothes on. So it was cold, and she was naked.

AH: I&#39;m glad they didn&#39;t call an ambulance though, that would have just been annoying. But I passed out totally up on the water tower that I was tied to. I don&#39;t remember singing, but I did, and then I just passed out and everybody was like, &#39;Good job!&#39; But I was actually passed out, so they had to cut me down, and it&#39;s all filmed.

JG: The footage is so cool.

AH: I put it at the end, you can see them carrying me off.

JG: It looks like a snuff film.
