Playboi Carti's New Album to Drop on Christmas Day
Playboi Carti's long-awaited album Whole Lotta Red is set to release on December 25. The rapper shared the news on Twitter today.
The tweet immediately went viral with 30,000 retweets and over 100,000 likes from fans who fell in love with Carti's first studio album, Die Lit, which dropped in 2018 and was placed in the top 50 albums of the year by Complex, Pitchfork, and Fact. While Carti has yet to release an official track list for Whole Lotta Red, he has hinted that it will include features from Travis Scott and Kid Cudi.
The American rapper first announced the title "Whole Lotta Red" in August 2018, and in 2019 he revealed that Off-White's Virgil Abloh would be the album's creative director. Since then, Carti has released one single titled "@MEH" in addition to collaborating with many of rap's biggest names on their own projects. Carti has worked with Drake, Lil Yachty, Solange, Tyler, the Creator, and Offset.
Known for his dark and gothic style, Carti modeled for Matthew Williams's first Givenchy campaign in September. The campaign was created in collaboration with photographer Nick Knight and Carti, who can be heard riffing to different pronunciations of the brand's name as a printer pops out photos of Givenchy's new hardware.
