The Princess of Wales is opening up about her cancer journey.&nbsp;

<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/kate-middleton-most-iconic-fashion-outfits-ranked" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kate Middleton</a>, the Princess of Wales, is speaking out after returning to her royal duties. On July 2, 2025, she visited the well-being garden at Colchester Hospital, where she opened up about her cancer journey and the ongoing challenges she faces, even after <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/kate-middleton-cancer-remission-meaning" target="_blank" rel="noopener">entering remission</a>, which was first announced in January.
<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/royalfamily" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Princess Kate</a> first made headlines in early 2024 when the public noticed her absence from royal events. She had not been seen since Christmas Day 2023. After weeks of speculation and rampant rumors, Kensington Palace revealed on January 17, 2024, that she had undergone abdominal surgery and would remain out of the public eye until Easter. However, the rumors persisted until March 22, when Middleton released a video statement <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/announcement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">confirming</a> that she had been diagnosed with cancer.
Following her announcement, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/katemiddleton" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Middleton</a> began preventative chemotherapy in September 2024 and has been in remission since January 2025. Though she resumed her royal duties earlier this year, she has acknowledged that returning to a sense of normalcy has not been easy. After missing the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/royal-ascot-2025-results-kate-middleton-absence-news" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Royal Ascot</a> on June 18, it was noted that she is still working on balancing her responsibilities with her health and well-being.

During her visit to Colchester Hospital, the Princess met with cancer patients and hospital staff to discuss life after treatment. The hospital&rsquo;s garden is designed as a calming, supportive space for patients, staff, and visitors alike&mdash;something Middleton seemed to connect with deeply.
&ldquo;Cancer is life-changing for everyone&mdash;patients and their families,&rdquo; <a href="https://www.today.com/video/kate-middleton-shares-details-about-her-cancer-journey-242645061763" target="_blank" rel="noopener">she said</a>. &ldquo;You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Then the treatment's done and it's like, &lsquo;I can crack on, get back to normal.&rsquo; But actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult.&rdquo;
She continued, &ldquo;You have to find your new normal, and it takes time. It&rsquo;s a rollercoaster&mdash;it&rsquo;s not smooth, like you expect it to be. But the reality is, you go through hard times.&rdquo;
While at the hospital, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/kate-middleton-royal-family-celebrates-ve-day-2025" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Princess Kate</a> helped the staff plant "Catherine's Rose" plants, named in her honor by the Royal Horticultural Society. The pink roses were donated as part of a wide effort to bring healing green spaces to those in need. The proceeds from the flowers benefit the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, where <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/katemiddleton" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Middleton</a> received treatment for her cancer.&nbsp;
