Here's what we know about the gold-medal winners from Team USA at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games.

The 2026 Olympic Winter Games are coming to a close on Sunday, and the United States has won nine medals so far across various events. American athletes continue to make history in any terrain, bouncing back from injuries and a 24-year-long drought to hoist the gold on top of the podium.&nbsp;
The Winter Olympics began on Feb. 6, 2026, and by day two, Team USA had already secured gold medals in alpine skiing and figure skating. Athletes like Lindsey Vonn competed at the highest level despite injury, inspiring perseverance and igniting fearlessness among Team USA. Despite an 8th-place performance by Ilia Malinin on Feb. 13, 2026, the 21-year-old skater known as the "Quad God" worked with 6 other Americans to celebrate gold on Feb. 8, 2026, in the team event.
So far, Team USA has won nine gold medals and is in second place after Norway with 17 gold medals. The United States has also won 12 silver medals and seven bronze medals and will compete in more upcoming events before Feb. 22, with the chance to take home more.

Alpine Skiing, Women's Downhill

Breezy Johnson from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, won the first gold medal awarded to an American at the 2026 Milan Cortina Games after an injury in her right knee kept her out of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. This is Johnson's first gold medal, and a major accomplishment for the athlete after returning from injury.

Figure Skating, Team Event

Team USA Figure Skating won gold on day 2 of the winter games, consisting of (from left to right) Evan Bates, Madison Chock, Ilia Malinin, Alysa Liu, &nbsp;Amber Glenn, Ellie Kam, and Danny O'Shea. 
Bates and Chock are not only teammates, but figure skating partners and spouses. They are both two-time Olympic gold medalists and three-time world champions. Kam and O&rsquo;Shea are also skating partners, and&nbsp;Glenn made history at age 26 as the oldest U.S. women's singles skater to compete in 98 years. Notably, Malinin did not originally plan to skate in the team competition to rest for the individual event, but agreed along with his coaches after the U.S. Figure Skating asked him to. Despite all the pressure and an unexpected individual performance, Malinin helped bring home the gold for his teammates and country.&nbsp;

Freestyle Skiing, Women's Moguls

The 20-year-old gold medalist beat the World Cup leader and 2022 Olympic gold medal champion Jakara Anthony on Feb. 11, 2026, to claim the title in women's moguls. A torn ACL ended Lemley&rsquo;s previous season, but she came into the 2025-26 season skiing for gold.

Speed Skating, Men's 1000m and&nbsp;500m

The 21-year-old from Wisconsin won his first gold medal in the 1000m, the first medal for an American in that event since 2010. After winning his second gold medal in the Speed Skating Men&rsquo;s 500m, Stolz became the first American since Eric Heiden to medal twice in speedskating. Stolz won silver in the 1500, and will compete on Saturday in the men&rsquo;s mass start final.

Elana Meyers Taylor, already with three silver and two bronze medals in the Olympic Games, became the oldest American woman to win gold at the Winter Games on Feb. 16, 2026. She is the most decorated Black athlete ever at the Winter Olympics, and celebrated her victory with her two sons, Nico and Noah, who cheered on their mom as she won her first gold medal.

Alpine Skiing, Women's Slalom

The most decorated American alpine skier in World Championships history, Mikaela Shiffrin, won her fourth Olympic gold medal in the slalom run on day 12 of the Olympic Winter Games.

On Feb. 19, 2026, USA Women&rsquo;s Hockey won gold in a match to beat Canada that went to overtime. The game-winning goal from Megan Keller came in the fifth minute of overtime after Hilary Knight scored a goal assisted by Laila Edwards to tie the game in regular time. The United States beat Canada on Feb. 10, 2026, in Women&rsquo;s Hockey with a score of 5-0. Laila Edwards is the first Black American to win a medal in Olympic Ice Hockey history

American figure skater Alysa Liu won gold on Feb. 19, 2026, for the women&rsquo;s single skating free skating event, which was the United States&rsquo; first gold medal in 24 years. The 20-year-old from California also won a gold medal in the team event on Feb. 8, 2026.
