Singer, author, actor, philanthropist... what&nbsp;can't she do?&nbsp;

Born Julia Elizabeth Wells in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, England, the legendary actor got her start touring in her parents' variety acts; her mother was a pianist, her stepfather a tenor. She later appeared in the West End and made her Broadway debut in 1948 in The Boy Friend (1954). Billed as '<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/romeo-and-juliet-costume-designer-interview-enver-chakartash" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Broadway</a>'s primadonna', Andrews quickly rose to prominence in Broadway roles such as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady (1956) and Queen Guinevere in&nbsp;Camelot (1960). She starred in the 1957 Rodgers and Hammerstein television musical Cinderella, then made her film debut as the titular character in Disney's Mary Poppins (1964), which won her the Academy Award for Best Actress. The following year, she proved her star power yet again when she took on a role as the iconic Maria von Trapp in the musical film The Sound of Music (1965), earning her the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical.&nbsp;
Andrews has starred in several films, working with legendary directors including Alfred Hitchcock, George Roy Hill, and her husband, Blake Edwards. Her credits include, but are not limited to, The Americanization of Emily (1964),&nbsp;Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967), Victor/Victoria (1982), <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/the-princess-diaries-3-details-cast-trailer-anne-hathaway-julie-andrews" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Princess Diaries</a>&nbsp;(2001),&nbsp;The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement&nbsp;(2004),&nbsp;Eloise at the Plaza and&nbsp;Eloise at Christmastime&nbsp;(2003). She has also been featured in voice-acting roles in the&nbsp;Shrek (2001-2010) and Despicable Me&nbsp;(2010-present)&nbsp;franchises.
Throughout her career, Andrews also made herself known through her collaborations with Carol Burnett, including television specials in 1962, 1971, and 1989. She starred in a variety special, The Julie Andrews Hour&nbsp;(1973), for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award. Most recently, she has voiced the enigmatic Lady Whistledown in Netflix's original series Bridgerton&nbsp;(2020-present), whose <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/everything-to-know-about-bridgerton-season-4-cast-plot-trailer-release" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fourth season</a> has just been announced. Andrews has co-authored various children's books with her two daughters and two autobiographies:&nbsp;Home: A Memoir of My Early Years (2008) and&nbsp;Home Work: A Memoir of My Hollywood Years (2019).
Over the years, Andrews has made herself a staple in Hollywood for her infectious laughter and undeniable charisma. Her voice lives in the hearts and childhoods of many, and she continues to show us that elegance never goes out of style.&nbsp;
