<p>Bastille Day, the fête of the summer, is here at last. More commonly known in France as <em>le quatorze juilliet </em>or <em>la fête nationale</em>, Bastille Day commemorates the 1789 storming of La Bastille in Paris, a major turning point in the French Revolution.&nbsp;</p>
<p>From street festivals to musical performances, celebrating Bastille Day is one of the best ways to experience French culture in New York City, especially as this year marks 250 years of the French-American alliance.</p>

<p>Kick off Bastille Celebrations early this weekend on July 12, with the L'Alliance New York Bastille Day 2026 Celebration. The festival will take place on Madison Avenue from 59th to 63rd Street and on 60th Street between Fifth and Park Avenues. This year's theme is "Montmartre to Manhattan," and the festival is open from noon to 5 p.m.</p>
<p>For foodies, check out The French Market, featuring&nbsp;<span>French specialty foods at booths along Madison Avenue. If you're a car-lover, <span>The Greater New York Citroen</span><span> &amp; Velosolex Bastille Day Rally and Rendezvous will display models of classic and iconic French cars. </span></span><span>New to the festival year is the Canival des Animaux Pet Parade and Costume Contest, where pet owners can show off their inventive French style. There will also be a variety of visual arts and dance workshops, in addition to the screening of two award-winning French films, <em>Mon Oncle</em> and <em>Leave One Day,</em> at the Florence Gould Theater.&nbsp;</span></p>

<p>After the L'Alliance New York Bastille Day 2026 Celebration, don't forget to stop by Central Park and spend the evening at a free concert hosted by the Consulate General of France, from five to 10 p.m. The entrance for the concert will be at 72nd Street and Fifth Avenue.&nbsp;</p>
<p><span>Headlining the concert will be French rapper Black M. </span><span>Other artists include Laurent Voulzy, Michel Polnareff, and a French pop group, Legends of the 80s.</span></p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">French Restaurant Week</h2>

<p>Across New York, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Miami, <a href="https://frenchrestaurantweek.com/#aboutFRW">French Restaurant Week</a> is well underway. From July 4 to July 19, several restaurants are participating in French Restaurant Week with exclusive prix fixe menus, inviting diners to explore the best French gastronomy has to offer.&nbsp; In New York, try iconic French macarons at Fauchon, or indulge in classic French dishes at Frenchette, Le Gratin, or Levant on Smith.
