<p dir="ltr"><span><a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/lofficial-art-makes-debut-art-basel-hong-kong-2023" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Art Basel</a> is a time of annual curatorial excellence, and will be taking place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from March 27 to March 29, 2026, with exclusive VIP preview days between March 25-26.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/art/art-basel-hong-kong-makes-successful-comeback" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Art Basel Hong Kong</a> takes place as Asia&rsquo;s premiere art happening, with over 240 galleries from over 35 countries, with a focus on the Asia Pacific region. The galleries and sectors showcase a mixture of both modern and contemporary art, and the discoveries of emerging artists alongside encounters of large-scale projects during <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/art-basel-hong-kong-2023-who-what-where" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Art Month</a> itself.&nbsp;</span><b><br></b></p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">Woo Hannah</h2>

<p dir="ltr">Korean sculptor Woo Hannah transforms textiles into the body&rsquo;s architecture. Her&nbsp;<em>Bag With You</em> series highlights just that&mdash;taking inspiration from parts like the lungs, stomach, intestines, and more, Hannah stitches them into objects that can be worn or carried. Illustrating the viscerality art centers through gentle and private yet portable objects, here, Hannah transforms biology into the art of accessory, while taking attendees and aficionados through a string of hard-hitting questions regarding the baggage we carry inside and what we&rsquo;re willing to admit.</p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">Shinya Azuma</h2>

<p>Shinya Azuma is not your average painter. In <em>The Grammar of Looseness: Slack Figures in the Age of Distant Empathy</em>, viewers watch as a bald man drifts through unassuming yet peculiar scenes&mdash;kicking a training dummy in a karate gi, standing as an oversized bird vomits onto him, driving a yellow convertible with a torch, and more. Using loose brushwork and flattened colors, this sequence has been labeled as both a meme and a dream. While the series is humorous, yearning lies within subliminally, as well. The lack of lightheartedness in life is reflected anywhere but here, through its tender references. Furthermore, Azuma also depicts sculptures of a baby, dog, and man as her vision often extends into three dimensions by way of the perplexities of her characters.</p>

<p>Hong Kong&rsquo;s Chan Ting <em>Abandoned Abundance</em> series features vintage objects sourced from marketplaces or neighboring residences. Having collected these objects alongside the personal stories that they carry, Ting transforms them in their studio through a sequence of painting, sanding, and polishing. Furthermore, not only does Ting explore their lost functions, but reinvigorates their meaning, through a hyper-capitalist approach and examining their fixed values and uses, questioning the paradox between consumerism and overconsumption that leaves us feeling empty more often than not.</p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">Emi Kusano</h2>

<p>Japanese AI artist Emi Kusano uses technology to expose the demanding dangers of data capitalism in our society. <em>Ornamental Survival - Recursive Heart (2026</em>) illustrates the Magical Girl&mdash;a figure promising freedom while in the throes of being demanded of consumption&mdash;while updating it for the algorithm. Through the use of generative AI to multiply her image, Kusano presents the labour tied to capitalism within our personal lives, be it through self-optimization we&rsquo;re asked of and boundaries we&rsquo;re obligated to break down. As opposed to critiquing society, she examines it from the backend.</p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;"><strong>Stephanie Temma Hier</strong></h2>

<p>Stephanie Temma Hier&rsquo;s art invites viewers to examine yet another theme of overconsumption within our world, under the guise of product hoarding to reassess meaning, necessity, and ethics. Her sculptures stage many an unsettling contrast&mdash;think raw salmon lying atop old shoes, exposed teeth, and sharp kitchen utensils slicing into deep red shrimp. Simultaneously sultry yet disturbing, <em>Factory</em> houses six ceramic sculptures to mimic everyday consumer goods, presented alongside oil paintings with 3D ceramic frames, yet again, bridging the artistic gap between the art of brash allure.</p>

<h3 dir="ltr" style="text-align: center;"><span>YetiOut X Cakeshop Rave in the Sky</span></h3>

<p>Tastemaker and collective YetiOut is teaming up with Seoul's legendary club, Cakeshop, to bring together art aficionados and partygoers alike. On March 27, from 10:00 p.m. onwards, the evening will showcase visionaries from the month-long festivities within Asia&rsquo;s art scene and beyond. The YetiOut X Cakeshop Rave in the Ski venue itself will be revealed to ticket-holders this coming Wednesday, for an added layer for ultra-exclusivity.</p>

<h3 style="text-align: center;">Ancestral Frequencies: Eaton Art Month Party</h3>

<p>Ancestral Frequencies makes its return as Eaton Hong Kong&rsquo;s signature art month style ritual, through a party set to reclaim feminine and queer genealogy erasure. Beyond the after-party, this space gathers like-minded souls through the likes and decks of artists such as Zo&euml; Marden and Sonia Wong, Berlin-based DJ and musician Dis Fig and Crete multidisciplinary artist Abyss X, among several others. Curated chaos is set to ensue on March 26 at 9:00 p.m. in Hong Kong&rsquo;s bustling, centrally-located Jordan neighborhood.</p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">Magic Room&rsquo;s Year 5 Anniversary Party</h2>

<p>Magic Room will be celebrating five years at AIA Vitality Park through an ultra boom. Its primary focus on community, euphony, and the sharing of sounds marks its 40th gathering across the city. Headliners include Musumeci B2B Lehar&mdash;supported by Radeckt and the Nodes Crew&mdash;in an outdoor celebration on March 28 from 3:00-10:30 p.m. to mark the milestone for old and new faces by the harbor, in collaboration with Zicket and Eve Bliss in Central Hong Kong.</p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">Avangart Tabldot at Cassio&rsquo;s Art Basel After party</h2>

<p>If you&rsquo;re in the mood for hypnotic, the Istanbul-trio is making its way to Lan Kwai Fong&rsquo;s buzziest venues at none other than the area&rsquo;s famous Cassio. Pushing the boundaries of experimental sound, the group fuses techno with industrial auditory influence, and will continue to do so on March 26 from 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.. No pun intended, but you truly won&rsquo;t want to <em>sleep</em> on this celebration.</p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">REWIND X ALTER. X Art Basel Closing Party</h2>

<p>Last but certainly not least, the REWIND X ALTER. X Art Basel Closing Party will bring the fabulous month of festivities to a close. Spanning three floors and two stages, artists such as Indonesia&rsquo;s Gero and France&rsquo;s Chateau Rouge embody a sonic art experience in the Blue Room of Soho House&rsquo;s 26th floor into a one-of-a-kind experience on March 28 from 9:00 a.m. to late in Sheung Wan.</p>
