Located at 1334 York Avenue in the Upper East Side, Sotheby&rsquo;s auction house plays a vital role in preserving and influencing New York City&rsquo;s culture and history. With over 90,000 square feet of exhibition space with museum-quality lighting and display, its expansive public galleries are spread across multiple floors of its redesigned headquarters.
Sotheby&rsquo;s rotating exhibits are free and open to the public, providing unique and intimate access to some of the world's <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/sothebys-fashion-icons-sale-auction-princess-diana" target="_blank" rel="noopener">most iconic</a> and covetable objects. Recently, the auction house made headlines as Sotheby's Paris set to auction Jane Birkin&rsquo;s <a href="https://www.lofficielph.com/fashion/original-birkin-bag-sothebys-auction-paris-details" target="_blank" rel="noopener">original</a> Herm&egrave;s Birkin bag on July 10th. &nbsp;
Currently on view in New York is Contemporary Discoveries, a group exhibition featuring new and mid-career artists in cutting-edge paintings, sculptures, and other works on paper, all available to admire through July 15th.&nbsp;

Just across town, Christie&rsquo;s auction house combines the energy of a commercial auction house with the elegance of a public exhibition space.&nbsp;The Rockefeller Center galleries regularly host free, public viewings of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/travel-living/christies-vintage-louis-vuitton-trunk-collection-auction" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rare and significant artworks,</a> allowing visitors to see museum-quality pieces, from Monet and <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/art/jean-michel-basquiat-career-history">Basquiat</a> to Joan Mitchell and Roy Lichtenstein, before they head to auction. 
Currently on view is the 20th/21st Century Art Exhibition, which runs through July 18th, highlighting modern and contemporary masters ahead of the &ldquo;First Open&rdquo; sale. Also on display is Contemporary Edition: New York, available only from July 12&ndash;17, featuring a selection of post-war and contemporary prints and multiples.&nbsp;

Spanning multiple locations across Chelsea and Tribeca, David Zwirner&rsquo;s New York spaces present museum-quality exhibitions with intellectual rigor and visual impact. Currently on view is Circa 1995: New Figuration in New York, a group show at 537 W 20th Street, running through July 17, that explores the revival of figurative painting through works by John Currin, Elizabeth Peyton, Peter Doig, and more. At 52 Walker Street in Tribeca, EJ Hill&rsquo;s solo exhibition, Low-slung Promises on the Tongues of the Devout, offers a multimedia meditation on belief, vulnerability, and endurance, open until September 13.

Also located in Chelsea, Lehmann Maupin is an international powerhouse for contemporary art, renowned for its ambitious exhibitions that explore critical and conceptual narratives. Founded in 1996 by Rachel Lehmann and David Maupin, the gallery operates across three floors, designed by Peter Marino in 2018, as well as a black-box film space. It maintains additional venues in London and Seoul.
Currently on view is Arcmanoro Niles: When There&rsquo;s Nothing I Can Do: I Go to My Heart, which runs through August 15. This intensely personal exhibition features luminous paintings that explore themes of vulnerability, family, and memory. In another gallery, Tammy Nguyen&rsquo;s A Comedy for Mortals: Paradiso, on view through August 15, presents a series of watercolor and ink works that explore mythology, geopolitics, and spiritual symbolism.

With multiple imposing spaces in Chelsea and Madison Avenue, Gagosian is New York&rsquo;s leading blue-chip gallery, hosting <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/art/richard-avedon-exhibition-gagosian-paris-haut-couture-fashion-week">museum-grade exhibitions</a> that blend intellectual depth with visual spectacle.&nbsp;
At 980 Madison Avenue, Picasso: T&ecirc;te-&agrave;-t&ecirc;te, through July 3, offers a rare look at works from the artist&rsquo;s estate, co-curated with <a href="https://www.lofficielbaltic.com/en/lifestyle/paloma-picasso-the-red-dove">Paloma Picasso,</a> and marks the final exhibition in the gallery&rsquo;s storied Upper East Side location. Downtown in Chelsea, at 522 West 21st Street, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/louis-vuitton-murakami-third-collection-zendaya">Takashi Murakami&rsquo;s</a> vibrant show, JAPONISME &rarr; Cognitive Revolution: Learning from Hiroshige, opens through July 11, placing his kaleidoscopic contemporary vision in conversation with ukiyo-e master Utagawa Hiroshige.

Founded in SoHo in 1968 and established in Chelsea in 1996, Paula Cooper Gallery is a pioneering venue in conceptual and minimalist art, featuring expansive three-floor spaces at 534, 521, and 529 W 21st Street, as well as a film-and-event black-box space. Currently on view are two standout exhibitions: at 534 W 21st, a dual showcase of Atsuko Tanaka and <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/louis-vuitton-yayoi-kusama-collaboration-drop-2-fashion-art">Yayoi Kusama</a>, which is available through June 27, brings together avant-garde Japanese practices in sculpture, installation, and immersive form; and Borderline open until August 8, a group exhibition exploring cartography, borders, and spatial politics through painting, installation, and mixed media, especially relevant amidst today's discourse on migration and sovereignty
