In an attempt to take spring less seriously, MAC has announced today that they have teamed up with Nicopanda head Nicola Formichetti to create a spunky, Kawaii-themed line of beauty products that embody the streetwear line’s cutesy aesthetic. In a flashy campaign video, models, including up-and-comer Molly Blair, take to their faces with the collaboration’s bright lipsticks, sparkling navy lip gloss, and pop-y face stickers.
“For me, beauty is about creativity, freedom, and fun,” says Formichetti, who has made that apparent in the glittering, logo-emblazoned compacts and pastel color palette. “Beauty and cosmetics are a huge part of my process when creating a look or a collection, so I’m always playing around with makeup.”
For Formichetti — who has dressed Lady Gaga in his Nicopanda designs — collaborations are nothing new, despite his label’s launch in 2011. His “dream” MAC collaboration comes just after a successful athleisure-chic fusion with Urban Outfitters last year.
