But Wow, The Best Met Gala Moments

Our favorite moments and looks from the biggest night in fashion.
Reading time 3 minutes

The annual Met Gala was last night to celebrate the launch of the exhibition: Camp: Notes on Fashion. While we are living in a society that is so camp, the theme may have shocked some leading them to shut down. But wow for the girls who turned it out—WOW, what a moment. Scroll down below to see our highlights of the biggest night in fashion.

JOAN COLLINS IN VALENTINO

I would be hard pressed to find a show that was more camp than Dynasty. And Alexis Carrington is quintessential camp. Dame Joan Collins in Valentino was a moment we didn't deserve but were blessed with so no complaints here.

RETURN OF THE RA-RA

While Lady Gaga left us for a minute to become a bonafide actress ditching her muppet wear for old Hollywood glamour, she returned to us tonight in four custom Brandon Maxwell looks.

HATS OFF TO JANELLE MONAE

Dressed in Christian Siriano, Janelle Monae mastered the whimsical nature of camp.

EZRA MILLER

It can be infuriating when guests don't adhere to the theme, but Ezra Miller in custom Burberry truly rose to the occasion. Very Claude Cahun inspired his all-seeing eye makeup was done by Mimi Choi.

DIANE VON FURSTENBURG

Diane Von Furstenberg wrote a book called The Woman I Wanted to Be. Diane wanted to be Lady Liberty so she did it. That is the level of self-love I aspire to.

BILLY PORTER

Billy Porter carried the team in his gallant Ancient Egyptian the Blonds look. As he was carried by six shirtless men, he was a highlight of the night as he made his Met Gala debut.

REGINA HALL IN DAPPER DAN

Regina Hall wanted to pay tribute to Dapper Dan's legacy as she wore him to his first Met Gala. Dan became an icon first in the black community at a time when embracing blackness wasn't initially celebrated by the masses, so it's quite moving to see him getting the praise and reparations he has always deserved.

LIZZO

Lizzo brought all of the juice to her first Met Gala red carpet in Marc Jacobs.

CIARA

Ciara, turned it out not once but twice on the Met Gala red carpet. First with her two top buns, and black jumpsuit alongside Big Frieda. Then she came out in this 70's inspired, Diana Ross-esque Emerald masterpiece. Both looks were designed by Peter Dundas.

MAJOR MOSCHINO MOMENT

Jeremy Scott whether you like him or not, his entire design aesthetic is rooted in camp. Dressing Tracee Ellis Ross, Katy Perry, Gwen Stefani, and Bella Hadid, his looks were some of the highlights of the night.

KIM KARDASHIAN IN MUGLER

King of Camp, Mr. Mugler designed for the house of Mugler for the first time in 20 years to dress modern-day princess of camp—Kim Kardashian. Inspired by a Malibu girl coming fresh out of the ocean.

ASHTON SAUNDERS

Ashton Saunders in Telfar. That's all. It speaks for itself.

CELINE DION

The forever Queen of Las Vegas and recent fashion darling Celine Dion looked exquisite in Oscar De La Renta.

DANDYISM RE-IMAGINED

Danai Gurira looked to Oscar Wilde and reimagined Dandyism in this low-plunging black Gabriella Hearst dress and top hat.

NAOMI IN VALENTINO

While the entire Valentino table looked breathtaking, there was something about Naomi in the label that made me fall in love with her all over again.

ZSA ZSA GA- GROSSMAN

Leslie Grossman drew inspiration from Camp Hall of Famer, Zsa Zsa Gabor.

YEEHAW BARBIE QUEEN

Yeehaw queen Kacey Musgraves, gave us country camp Barbie in pink leather Moschino.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE

Lasttly, a moment of silence for all of the missed Patrick Kelly, Claude Montana, Mugler archive moments. And another for the missed Heatherette, and Baby Phat moments that could have been.
