As Versace's new era officially begins, we pay homage to Donatella Versace, the icon who transformed the Medusa house, blending her own style and the signatures of her brother, Gianni Versace.&nbsp;

"Versace has always been a brand for strong women who aren't afraid to step out, to expose themselves and be glamorous&mdash;women who believe in themselves," Donatella Versace told&nbsp;L'OFFICIEL&nbsp;after the label's massive Los Angeles show in 2023.&nbsp;
&nbsp;Today, after 28 years alone at the helm of the brand and a life spent under the sign of the Medusa, the creative soul of the Versace fashion house&mdash;whose modern history she wrote after the tragic passing of her brother Gianni&mdash;is preparing to begin a new chapter in her life.

She will be chief brand ambassador, overseeing the brand at the center of a true revolution&mdash;Dario Vitale has taken over as the label's creative director.&nbsp;
"It has been the greatest honor of my life to carry on my brother Gianni's legacy. He was a true genius, but I hope to have a little of his spirit and tenacity," said Versace after she announced she was stepping down from the helm.
Celebrating the nearly three decades of her reign,&nbsp;L'OFFICIEL&nbsp;looks back through the archives, paying homage to an icon who has entered the collective imagination, a courageous leader, and a constant companion in adventures and crazy projects alike.

Through her many designs and campaigns, Versace has always managed to carve out a distinct, bold, and undeniably beautiful identity for the label. Vibrant, dynamic, and innovative, Versace has been at the forefront of countless style trends, legendary silhouettes, and iconic runway moments over the years.&nbsp;
Season after season, the label has continued to develop who exactly the Versace woman is. A bit like Donatella herself, she's strong, determined, sharp, and ironic&mdash;plus, surrounded by glamorous, vivacious celebrity friends&mdash;but a protagonist of the ever-changing contemporary world.

After her show last March, Versace spoke about her future goals for the label, and outlined simply: "I want to be able to convey what Versace is, which, even today, is unique on the global scene. It's true luxury. I want to ensure this house remains relevant not only in fashion, but in the global cultural conversation in general."&nbsp;
Without a doubt, the visionary, iconic designer has continued to put the label on the map over the course of the past decades, and even as Versace steps into a fresh era under new creative direction, she will be remembered among the most brilliant creatives in fashion history.&nbsp;
