American Love Story will tell the couple's famed but tragic love story.&nbsp;

Ryan Murphy's American Story franchise continues to expand. The screenwriter and director, behind hits like Pose and FX's American Crime and Horror Story shows, is preparing for a new chapter with American Love Story. The forthcoming series will focus on the emblematic yet tragic love story between John F. Kennedy Jr. and <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/carolynbessette">Carolyn Bessette</a>.
The <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/tv">TV</a> show, initially announced in 2021, will revolve around the couple's love story, including the tragic plane crash off the coast of Martha&rsquo;s Vineyard three years after they were married. The project is intended to explore the couple's intimacy and personal dramas, beyond their public image at the time. Per <a href="https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/american-love-story-john-f-kennedy-jr-carolyn-bessette-update-1236143846/">Variety</a>, Broadway star Sarah Pidgeon has been cast to play Bessette, who was a publicist for <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/calvinklein">Calvin Klein</a>. Further American Love Story cast details on who will play major roles like JFK Jr. or Jackie Kennedy have yet to be revealed.
"We have some really good scripts. We're still figuring out when that's going to happen," Brad Simpson, executive producer on the project, told Variety. "It's a story that resonates deeply right now... a lot of young women see her as kind of a defining figure of a pivotal time. We hope to bring that story to the screen very soon." And he's right: There's no doubt that Bessette remains a style icon and fashion inspiration to this day.&nbsp;
"We're developing multiple projects and ideas in parallel. It's not that we're secretive, it's just that we see what emerges and what takes shape. We've learned that if we announce something too early, it immediately becomes a Wikipedia entry," Simpson added, referring to Studio 54: American Crime Story, a potential fourth installment in the American Crime Story series that has been quiet since its 2021 announcement alongside the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/romance">romance</a> series.
American Love Story, revolving around John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, is in pre-production and a release date has yet to be announced. Check back for updates.
