For Belly, one door closes, while another opens&mdash;but which leads to Conrad and which goes to Jeremiah?

Another week has come and gone, and just as the weather makes its annual autumnal shift, with days slowly getting shorter, the sun is beginning to set on one of our favorite warm-weather watches:&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/the-summer-i-turned-pretty-season-3-cast-plot-release-date" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Summer I Turned Pretty</a>.&nbsp;
The third and final season of the smash-hit Amazon series, based on a trilogy of novels by Jenny Han, follows Belly as she navigates the end of her college experience&mdash;and the beginning of her life with <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/gavin-casalegno-the-summer-i-turned-pretty-season-2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jeremiah Fisher</a>.&nbsp;
So far, Season 3 has been tumultuous to say the least. Belly found out Jeremiah cheated on her, leading to a short-lived breakup, and the pair patched things up, only for Jeremiah to propose to Belly soon after.&nbsp;
A majority of the season thus far has seen the wedding planning process, and as the summer inches closer and closer to the wedding day, conflicts keep popping up. For viewers, the most anticipated scene happened last week during <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/the-summer-i-turned-pretty-episode-7-recap-what-to-expect-episode-8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Episode 7</a>, when <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/the-summer-i-turned-pretty-conrad-fisher-season-3-episode-5" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Conrad</a>&mdash;Jeremiah's brother and Belly's ex-boyfriend (yikes)&mdash;confessed that he still has feelings for Belly in a sentimental scene on the beach. Both parties cried, Taylor Swift played in the background, and the screen went dark&mdash;leaving plenty of drama, emotion, and action for Episode 8.

The Summer I Turned Pretty&nbsp;Season 3 Episode 8 Recap

After Conrad's confession to Belly on the beach, the pair wake up and begin their day with an argument&mdash;shocker, considering Belly's wedding is days away.&nbsp;
"You broke my heart last night Belly, is that what you want to hear?" Conrad wonders, prompting <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/lola-tung-what-to-know-facts-summer-i-turned-pretty" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Belly</a> to tell him to leave. It becomes clear that Conrad is equally as aware of the lingering affection between them as Belly has become over the past months. If that wasn't evidence enough that the wedding between Jeremiah and Belly will never happen, Belly's internal monologue chimes in soon after, letting viewers know that she'll never truly be able to get over Conrad.&nbsp;
As she prepares for the rehearsal, Belly appears noticeably more anxious, and if New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle" playing as Conrad, Belly, and Jeremiah went through the motions at the venue wasn't a sign of conflict to come, we don't know what is.&nbsp;
The rehearsal dinner goes off without a hitch&mdash;Laurel and John continue to get closer, Taylor and her mom patch things up after their argument last episode, Steven and Denise laugh over drinks, and Jeremiah surprises Belly with lobster rolls, her original reception dinner choice that was ultimately shot down by Adam's wedding planning staff. The couple makes sweet speeches until Jeremiah gets to Conrad, who he commends for his loyalty, souring Conrad's already awkward smile.&nbsp;
The awkwardness continues as Belly finds out about Jeremiah's new job in Boston&mdash;and viewers can't help but remember how Belly turned down the opportunity to study abroad in Paris to be with Jeremiah on their college campus.
Once the dinner ends, Conrad and Jeremiah have a tense argument about ice cream, of all things, and Conrad goes back to the beach house, where he has a heart-to-heart with Laurel about the wedding and his feelings for Belly.
In other news, the romantic tension between Denise and Steven comes to a head. The pair finally kissed, and both immediately declared they felt absolutely nothing, putting that plotline to a swift end&mdash;partners in business only.&nbsp;
Belly takes a midnight swim to clear her mind as extremely literal lyrics from <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/olivia-rodrigo-boyfriend-louis-partridge-dating-relationship-timeline" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Olivia Rodrigo</a>'s "Making the Bed" play, before tiptoeing into Jeremiah's room to tell him about Conrad's confession. The two agreed to continue their wedding, but when Belly wakes up on the morning of the wedding, the groom-to-be is nowhere to be found, sending everyone into a panic. Laurel gives letters from Susannah to Belly and Jeremiah, intended for their wedding days.
Eventually, Conrad finds Jeremiah, and unsurprisingly, it quickly turns into a fight between the two. After Jeremiah reads Susannah's letter, he tells Conrad, "You're not my brother anymore, you're dead to me. I don't want you at my wedding, I want you gone," before handing the letter over to Conrad and leaving tearfully. The camera pans down, and viewers realize that the letter was intended for Conrad, not Jeremiah&mdash;Susannah mistakenly labelled the envelope.&nbsp;
Back at the wedding venue, a tearful Conrad tells Belly he's going away and likely won't see her for a while as the dust from his fallout with Jeremiah settles, then kisses her forehead and leaves&mdash;to the tune of <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/phoebe-bridgers-paul-mescal-dating-relationship-timeline" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Phoebe Bridgers</a>, in case you needed that extra emotional gut punch. Plus, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/the-summer-i-turned-pretty-rain-spencer-season-2-love-triangles" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Taylor and Steven</a> rekindle their romance.&nbsp;
Jeremiah comes back to the venue, where he and Belly argue in tears, and ultimately, Jeremiah calls the wedding off. Back at the beach house, Belly packs up to Taylor Swift's "cardigan,"&nbsp; because it wouldn't be a&nbsp;TSITP&nbsp;episode without a track or two from the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/taylor-swift-engagement-ring-dress-shoes-watch-outfit-details" target="_blank" rel="noopener">newly-engaged pop princess</a>. Suitcase in hand, Belly goes to the airport and buys a ticket to <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/paris-fashion-week-spring-summer-2026-schedule-brands-showing-dior-chanel-debut-alaia-everything-to-know" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Paris</a>, but a lonely-looking Conrad sitting by the gate catches her eye, and the screen fades to black.

The Summer I Turned Pretty&nbsp;Season 3: What to Expect in Episode 9&nbsp;

After that bombshell episode, it's clear that the chapter between Jeremiah and Belly has come to a close. Given how closely the series has followed Jenny Han's original books so far, it's likely that the next episode will see a rekindling between Belly and Conrad. Plus, given the way the wedding ended, Belly has plenty of her own emotions to contend with. Expect plenty of sad faces&mdash;and backing tracks&mdash;next episode.&nbsp;

On Aug. 29, Amazon Prime released the final trailer for the series, and fans are excited, to say the least. The trailer follows Belly as she settles down in Paris for her study abroad program, and sees her contending with the loss of Jeremiah after the pair canceled their wedding. Short snippets from the teaser show Belly finding a new group of friends, sightseeing, and partying with Taylor, who comes to visit. Everything appears to be on the up and up, until Belly receives a letter from Conrad&mdash;begging the question, will the two continue their romance?
