The East London local set to open for Harry Styles&rsquo; 30-night residency in New York City this fall is a bona fide Grammy-nominated DJ, producer, and member of boy band The Xx.

In case you missed it, Jamie xx made headlines this week following the news of <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/music/harry-styles-tour-madison-square-garden-30-night-residency-tickets-ticketmaster-price" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harry Styles</a>&rsquo; 2026 Together, Together world tour announcement to perform hits like <a href="https://www.lofficielph.com/hommes/harry-styles-aperture-music-video-prada-fashion-style" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Aperture</a> from <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/music/harry-styles-album-kiss-all-the-time-disco-occassionally-fourth-album-release-date-tour" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kiss All The Time. The 37-year-old, born James Thomas Smith, sparked online conversation after Styles announced him as his main opening act for his 30-night New York residency at Madison Square Garden, August through October 2026.
But who is Jamie xx really? The multi-hyphenate musical talent is known for his ability to produce, remix, and spearhead his own music endeavors. Following his first solo album in 2015, In Colour, his most recent labor of love, In Waves, followed shortly after. Jamie xx&rsquo;s music invites a fresh blend of electronic, experimental club beats into the industry. However, prior to Jamie xx's individual accomplishments&mdash;and to this day&mdash;xx is a member of boy band The Xx. Specifically, The Xx began in 2005 with Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim, while they were teenagers, later adding Baria Qureshi and xx. The Xx toured their debut album, xx, together, incorporating an indie-pop tone with electronic influences. Equal parts broody yet beat-friendly, Jamie xx's standalone taste lies in tandem with his true-to-self group status as a bandmate.

Jamie xx&rsquo;s diverse collaboration portfolio spans artists such as Drake, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Adele, Florence + The Machine, Radiohead, Gil Scott-Heron, Young Thug, Popcaan, and Robyn. Despite his extensive list of adornments, xx describes himself as reserved, as he stated in a 2024 interview with Apple Music, hosted by Zane Lowe.
Beyond achievements such as his 58th Grammy Award nomination in 2016 for his debut album, In Colour, for Best Dance/Electronic Album, Jamie xx swears by simple pleasures like surfing, meditating, and being off his phone.
