Hollywood, loved ones, and longtime fans are in mourning after news broke that Catherine O'Hara&mdash;legendary Canadian actress and comedian&mdash;has died at 71.&nbsp;
<a href="https://www.tmz.com/2026/01/30/catherine-ohara-dead/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TMZ</a>&nbsp;first broke the news on Jan. 30, and it has since been confirmed by several sources close to the actress. No further details on O'Hara's cause of death have been released at this time. O'Hara is survived by her husband of many years, Bo Welch, and the couple's two sons, Matthew and Luke.&nbsp;
O'Hara is best known for her performances in&nbsp;Schitt's Creek, in which she played the&nbsp;iconic Moira Rose, as well as&nbsp;Beetlejuice,&nbsp;Home Alone, and&nbsp;Best In Show.&nbsp;
O'Hara began her career as a comedian in the '70s, when she first stepped forward to perform improv and sketch comedy for Second City in her hometown, Toronto. Just two years later, the troupe launched&nbsp;SCTV, a sketch comedy show about a fictional TV station. For a brief stint in 1981, O'Hara was hired on Saturday Night Live, but opted to return to&nbsp;SCTV&nbsp;instead. Her writing for the show earned her an Emmy award, as well as two nominations.&nbsp;
The actress also appeared on a number of other TV shows throughout the '70s and '80s. 1980 marked her first feature-length film role in&nbsp;Double Negative, alongside SCTV co-stars like John Candy, Eugene Levy, and Joe Flaherty. Across the '80s and '90s, she appeared in numerous other films, including&nbsp;Beetlejuice and Home Alone.&nbsp;
Across the 20th century, the actress brought her charisma, signature comedy style, and wide-ranging acting capabilities to a variety of new projects, including&nbsp;The Last Of Us, Temple Grandin,&nbsp;and&nbsp;A Series Of Unfortunate Events.&nbsp;O'Hara's time as Moira Rose on&nbsp;Schitt's Creek reunited her with Levy, reintroduced her to a whole new generation of fans, and brought on plenty of critical prestige. For her role in the comedy series, she won an array of awards, including an Emmy, Golden Globe, Critics Choice award, and SAG award.&nbsp;
