Only Björk would host a rave beneath a solar eclipse—and only Robert Wun could dress her for it.

Few artists could make a solar eclipse feel like their own production. On Aug. 12, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/bjork-swan-dress-outfit-ocars-2001">Björk</a> did exactly that, hosting Echolalia, a one-day festival staged at the Víðistaðatún sculpture park in Hafnarfjörður, on the outskirts of her native Reykjavík, directly beneath the eclipse's path of totality. 
Some 7,000 people gathered in the rocky Icelandic fields, traveling from as far as Hawaii and Japan for a moment that lasted one minute and four seconds.&nbsp;The music stopped as the moon covered the sun. When the light returned, Björk emerged, encased head to toe in a cloud of white balloons designed by <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/robert-wun-interview-fashion-designer-spring-summer-2026-couture-lisa-blackpink-met-gala-outfit">Robert Wun</a>.

The ensemble comes from Wun's <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/fall-winter-2026-creative-director-designer-debut-collections-heritage-identity-trends-fendi-giorgio-armani-balmain-marni">Fall/Winter 2026</a> <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/beauty/haute-couture-fall-winter-2026-runway-beauty-inspiration-best-looks-eyeshadow-lips-hair-makeup">Haute Couture</a> collection, "Childsplay," presented in Paris on July 8. Across 25 looks, the Hong Kong-born designer built a meditation on the stages of childhood, working in real balloons, stuffed toys, and jewel-encrusted paint splatters. 
The balloons themselves were a technical feat and a deliberate one, chosen as a reference to the transience of infancy—objects designed to deflate, mounted on garments meant to last. The show closed with a monumental black gown crowned by a chaotic cloud of customized balloons.
On <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/art/bjork-bottega-veneta-echolalia-exhibition-location-dates-open-film-audiovisual-new-music">Björk</a>, the white version reads differently. Translucent and opaque orbs cluster around the torso before spilling outward into long, curved forms that reach past her shoulders, obscuring her face entirely and leaving only white-stockinged legs and pale heels visible beneath. Worn against a grey Icelandic sky, it suggests something between a cumulus cloud and a solar corona—the exact shape of light that appears around the moon during totality. 
It is <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/anya-taylor-joy-method-dressing-red-carpet-premieres-press-tours-dune-mad-max-mario-movie">method dressing</a> at its most conceptual, and a reminder of why the two are such a natural pairing. <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/roberto-capucci-robert-wun-fashion-designers-scad">Wun</a> has spent his career building garments that behave like sculpture, and <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/art/gucci-garden-bjork-exhibition">Björk</a> has spent hers commissioning designers who treat the body as material rather than mannequin.

<h2 dir="ltr" style="text-align: center;">The Night</h2>

The performances matched the ambition of the look. Arca played as the sky began to darken, with sets from 33EMYBW, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, and Icelandic artists including Ronja Jóhannsdóttir, Sideproject, Gummi Arnalds, and Knackered filling the day. 
Björk took over the decks from 5:50 to 6:47 p.m. GMT, opening—inevitably—with the soundtrack to Stanley Kubrick's&nbsp;2001: A Space Odyssey, then moving through tracks by Rosalía, Kelela, and Marina Herlop before closing with a remix of Rosalía's "Berghain," on which she features.

She never addressed the crowd directly. She didn't need to. Between songs, she danced behind the decks, drumming on them with her hands, a glass of rosé in one hand and a balloon cloud swallowing the rest of her. The festival doubled as a celebration of the 40th anniversary of Icelandic label Smekkleysa, and coincided with two of her works, Ancestress and Sorrowful Soil, going on view at the National Gallery of Iceland.
The balloons will deflate, as balloons do. That was always Wun's point—a garment built from something designed not to last, worn for an event that lasted one minute and four seconds. In a career full of unrepeatable images, Björk found the perfect dress for a moment that will not come again.
