The Artemis II crew just made it to the moon&mdash;turns out Taylor Swift had been there all along.

After a few days following the Artemis II moon updates, it's safe to say that some things travel faster&mdash;and land a lot closer to home&mdash;than they did during our first lunar landing. Suddenly, we feel a genuine connection to astronauts we're just getting to know, and after their charming recreation of the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/mary-kate-and-ashley-olsen-twins-movies-fashion-full-house" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Full House</a> opening credits&mdash;renamed Full Capsule, directed and filmed by the crew themselves&mdash;each of the four astronauts made their way into our hearts.
The Artemis II crew, currently the farthest humans from Earth in history, have been dropping hints all week. Visitors to NASA's Instagram profile will find the bio reads "In our Moon Era"&mdash;and as if that weren't enough, their official X account responded to a 2010 tweet from <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/taylor-swift-travis-kelce-relationship-timeline-dating-football-chiefs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Travis Kelce</a>, in which he wrote "The moon looks crazy tonight&hellip; Imma chill out here for a little and just visualize my success n vibe to the scenery," with a direct reference to <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/music/music-records-taylor-swift-has-broken-net-worth-album-sales" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Taylor Swift</a>'s Miss Americana &amp; The Heartbreak Prince: "It's been a long time coming&hellip;" The internet, predictably, lost its mind.
Commander Reid Wiseman went one step further. During a transmission, he showed off his friendship bracelet after throwing up a <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/taylor-swift-beats-beatles-record-fearless" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fearless</a><a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/taylor-swift-beats-beatles-record-fearless" target="_blank" rel="noopener">-style</a> heart with his hands&mdash;a longstanding astronaut tradition of bringing personal objects into space, taken to its most iconic form. Houston's response confirmed what we were all seeing: "Copy heart, copy bracelet." A Swiftie in space, officially.
Not only romantic but sentimental, the Artemis II crew also proposed naming two newly discovered moon craters: one in honor of their spacecraft's integrity, and the other in memory of Wiseman's late wife Carroll, who passed away from cancer in 2020 and with whom he shares two daughters&mdash;who are, quite possibly, the ones responsible for his pop culture education.

And while<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/music/elizabeth-taylor-music-video-release-how-to-watch-easter-eggs-fan-theories-reddit-song-meaning-album-records-units-sold" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&nbsp;Swift</a> herself has made her position on space travel very clear ("Never. There's no reason to do that."), her music has been making the journey without her for years.&nbsp;
In May 2010, astronaut Piers Sellers brought Swift's debut album aboard NASA mission STS-132, the 32nd flight of Space Shuttle Atlantis, where he served as Mission Specialist. Following that same tradition of carrying a family keepsake, his niece Connie chose that for him&mdash;and so&nbsp;Swift became part of space history.&nbsp;
Then in 2016, an autographed copy of 1989 was included in a NASA-linked educational CubeSat project&mdash;an Idaho teen team's space-bound time capsule that earned a NASA mission award, with Swift personally sending the album to be launched into orbit.
So maybe Swift doesn't need to go to space. She's been sending pieces of herself there for over a decade&mdash;and space, it turns out, keeps coming back for more.
