While most true crime films tell the story of a dead person, Lady Gaga had the opportunity to meet the real woman behind her House of Gucci role&mdash;but passed.

With a powerful cast and an engaging story, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/lady-gaga-reveals-she-felt-how-patrizia-reggiani-felt-house-of-gucci-method-acting" target="_blank" rel="noopener">House of Gucci</a> is in the spotlight! The film, which tells the story of the murder of Maurizio Gucci, heir of the Italian brand, became one of the most talked-about of the year, highlighting the performance of <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/lady-gaga-house-of-gucci-red-carpet-premiere-fashion" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lady Gaga</a> as a possible Oscar nominee. But, there is a detail of her preparation for the character that drew attention: the fact that the actress chose not to meet <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/lady-gaga-extreme-acting-method-house-of-gucci-patrizia-reggiani" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Patrizia Reggiani</a>. After several months of speculation, she revealed the reason for this decision.
In an interview, Gaga explained that she did a lot of research and that that was what was important to her. According to the actress, she watched and read everything, like exhibitions and interviews, except the book on which the whole film is inspired House of Gucci: A History of Glamour, Greed, Madness and Death.
"I didn't read the book, I felt it would color my thoughts, give me a lot of opinions about Patrizia so I stayed away from it, but I saw exposition and newspaper articles and I watched her a lot," said the singer.

The big reason behind this decision, however, is what Gaga realized through her research. &ldquo;I noticed she lied a lot. I noticed in her mannerisms and her ways of doing things, even the way she blinked a lot while talking, after 1995. So, after [Maurizio] was murdered," revealed the actress for the publication.
According to Lady Gaga, she thought Patrizia was trying to create a legacy for her that she would be remembered for, and that it wouldn't help her build the history of the Italian socialite before the 1995 murder. "She would want me to play her in the way that she would want to be played, not to tell the truth, but to make her look good, you know?&rdquo; explained the actress to Gloss. &ldquo;So I said, 'Let's stay away from this and let me do as much research as possible.' And not Patrizia as my vision of her, but as a journalist, like, 'What do I believe?'"
