Recent photographs from set seem to indicate a loss in the fictional world of&nbsp;The Devil Wears Prada's sequel&mdash;at least the Internet thinks so, judging by all-black attire and grim expressions.&nbsp;

The Devil Wears Prada 2 plot is expected to veer slightly from the original written sequel's narrative&mdash;but perhaps even more than anyone anticipated, by the looks of recent photos.
In the written sequel, after a whirlwind beginning to her career in the fashion and publishing industry, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/the-devil-wears-prada-2-first-look-at-andy-sachs-outfit-anne-hathaway-see-all-the-looks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Andy Sachs</a> is working side-by-side with former frenemy Emily Charlon. The pair head a luxury <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/beauty/bridal-makeup-looks-inspired-by-the-red-carpet" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bridal</a> magazine and reencounter their former boss, Miranda Priestly, much to their dismay.&nbsp;

Pop culture fiends and film fanatics alike have certainly been spoiled recently, what with the flurry of photos released over the course of the past weeks from the set of the highly anticipated sequel to <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/devil-wears-prada-best-looks-sequel-news-meryl-streep-anne-hathaway-emily-blunt" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Devil Wears Prada</a>.&nbsp;
Now that filming in <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/spring-summer-parties-events-nyc-2025" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York City</a> has begun, eagle-eyed fans have caught glimpses of snaps that have indicated celebrity cameos, new plot developments, and everything in between, but one recent set spells troubling news for dedicated viewers.&nbsp;
On Aug. 20, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/anne-hathaway-adam-shulman-relationship-history-husband" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anne Hathaway</a> and Stanley Tucci were photographed walking arm-in-arm, all clad in black as Andy and Nigel, their original characters. While dramatic <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion-week/street-style-new-york-fashion-week-style-trends-2025" target="_blank" rel="noopener">monochromatic 'fits</a> are certainly nothing new for fashion-forward crowds in New York, the actors' troubled expressions that accessorized the looks indicated that another factor may be the root cause of their soured smiles and furrowed brows&mdash;that is, something other than the stress that comes with working in the fast-paced industry.&nbsp;

Most fans online are speculating that the pair were filming a scene of Miranda Priestly's funeral&mdash;which, if true, marks a wildly shocking twist, considering the movie's focus on the character.&nbsp;
Of course, the Internet was outraged by this possibility, but when considering the film's other major characters, who else could it be? Others considered that Hathaway's Andy and Tucci's Nigel could have been in mourning of a different kind. Perhaps major layoffs occurred, or even worse, the publication they worked at shuttered entirely.
Ultimately, official details on the so-called funeral scene are slim, so until the film releases in May 2026, we won't know for certain&mdash;though, consider our fingers crossed on Priestly's survival.
