For its latest presentation, the label went to Madrid&mdash;marking its third international runway presentation in the house's 44-year history.&nbsp;

<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/new-york-fashion-week-spring-summer-2026-schedule-designers-shows-what-to-see-do-nyfw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Carolina Herrera sat out New York Fashion Week</a> this season, instead bringing its Spring/Summer 2026 show to Madrid. Creative director Wes Gordon used the Spanish capital as a stage for a collection that leaned into the house&rsquo;s reputation for glamour while shaking it up with bold, confident choices. The label took over the historic, iconic Plaza Mayor&mdash;making it the first main collection ever shown outside New York.&nbsp;
&ldquo;Madrid has always been one of my favorite cities in the world&mdash;rich in history, art, and culture. It&rsquo;s home to incredible creatives with a unique approach to beauty and joy,&rdquo; said Gordon in a release. &ldquo;There&rsquo;s something about this city&rsquo;s rhythm&mdash;its appetite for life&mdash;that inspires and energizes me and is deeply aligned with the Herrera woman.&rdquo;
The Herrera woman has always been defined by polish&mdash;thanks in no small part to Carolina herself, once among New York&rsquo;s best-dressed socialites&mdash;but Gordon&rsquo;s take pushes that idea forward. Fuchsia, florals, and the label&rsquo;s unmistakable red flooded the runway, splashed across sweeping ball gowns and dramatic silhouettes. The result was a collection that felt both timelessly elegant and unafraid of excess, perfectly capturing the thrill of spring and summer opulence.
Bold, romantic hues took center stage within the collection, with other standout colors including warm sunny yellow, subtle lilac, and rich Rioja red. Unexpected, yet perfectly at home within the Carolina Herrera world, the shades added a vivid, lavish sense of life to the energetic silhouettes and textiles.&nbsp;
&nbsp;In terms of patterns, roses, violets, and carnations&mdash;Madrid's emblematic flower&mdash;bloomed on the Spring/Summer 2026 garments. Embroidery, jacquard, and printed motifs featuring the florals were splashed across the pieces, weaving in classical feminine ornamentations reinvented in contemporary craftsmanship. Though polka dots <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/shopping/polka-dot-trend-unique-going-out-tops-shopping" target="_blank" rel="noopener">emerged as a major trend in casual dressing</a> this past summer, the print has a long-standing history as a core aspect of the Carolina Herrera archive. In the label's Spring/Summer 2026 collection, playful, yet polished polka dots take on new life as mainstays in sculptural, elegant gowns and sophisticated daytime wear alike.&nbsp;
As per usual, the collection delicately tiptoed the line between classically refined and bold and daring, but this season also saw the incorporation of Spanish style codes through exclusive collaborations with local talent. Designer Alejandro G&oacute;mez Palomo of his eponymous brand, Palomo, was tasked with reinterpreting the classic Herrera white shirt, a project that paid homage to Spanish craftsmanship while highlighting one of the house&rsquo;s most enduring signatures. These partnerships not only honored Madrid&rsquo;s creative spirit but also underscored Gordon&rsquo;s effort to root the collection in the cultural richness of its temporary home.
