Getty Images Bans Retouching of Body Size

Starting October 1, contributing photographers will only be allowed to retouch skin and hair, but not bodies.

This past June, one of the world’s largest photo banks, Getty Images, announced the decision to no longer retouch bodies. The order goes into effect on October 1. This order comes at the same time that France’s new law that obliges companies to note a retouched photo goes into effect. The decision by Getty is a bold step towards presenting realistic standards of beauty.
