After a long few weeks of snow, wind, and bitterly cold temperatures, the worst of the harsh weather has&mdash;almost&mdash;begun to subside, a striking event skyward is the last thing many of us are looking forward to. But never fear, Feb. 1's full moon promises a much more pleasing sight than piles upon piles of snow and ice.&nbsp;
The February 2026 full moon is expected to reach peak illumination just a few minutes after 5 p.m. on Feb. 1. Per&nbsp;<a href="https://spectrumlocalnews.com/nc/charlotte/weather/2026/01/30/february-s-full-moon#:~:text=There%20will%20only%20be%20one,directly%20to%20weather%20and%20climate.">Spectrum News</a>, the February 2026 full moon&mdash;aka, the Snow Moon&mdash;will be visible on Feb. 1 after it rises, as well as the next few days.&nbsp;
For best visibility, consider taking your watch party outdoors, on a rooftop, or in another large open space. After all, what could be a better brief break from the 2026 Grammy Awards arrivals than a stunning celestial event?&nbsp;

Much like the other unique full moons that take place throughout the calendar year, the Snow Moon, too, has special symbolism attached to it.&nbsp;
The Snow Moon, also sometimes known as the Hunger Moon or the Bear Moon, takes place during the dead of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and borrows its name from the bitter cold, barren fields, and harsh snow. As such, the Snow Moon symbolizes a time to embrace serenity, spend ample energy on self-reflection, and nurture one's inner passions. After all, with the freezing temperatures and heavy snows as of late, it seems there's no better time to remain indoors and devote some time to yourself this month.
