Since the start of lockdown, Gigi Hadid has been showing off her culinary skills on Instagram. Recently, the mother of one, Khai, shared shots of her spicy vodka pasta, followed by a helpful recipe for fans to recreate at home. That's right, carbs and alcohol in one dish—it's an irresistible meal you can't pass up. Unfortunately for the model, this time she was out of vodka, but that didn't stop her from digging in on her yummy dinner. For those looking to take on the challenge, L'OFFICIEL lays out all the steps for a Gigi-approved spicy vodka pasta.
- 1 shallot
- 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- 2 cloves of pressed (or chopped) garlic
- 200 grams of tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons of distilled vodka
- 450 grams of penne
- 120 ml crème fraîche
- 50 grams of Parmigiano Reggiano (more is always good)
- fresh basil
- half a teaspoon of chili flakes
Put the olive oil in the hot pan. Add the shallots and garlic and sauté. Toss in the tomato paste, chilli flakes, and fresh basil. Add salt and pepper to taste and cook over low heat for 10 minutes. While the sauce is boiling, cook the pasta al dente.
Melt butter in a separate pan and add the cooked pasta. Then add the tomato sauce and crème fraîche to the pasta over high heat while stirring. Now, add the vodka and stir again, then remove the pan from the heat. Spoon half of the parmesan cheese into the pasta until melted. Sprinkle the rest of the fresh basil and cheese over the pasta and enjoy.
